We don't have the smoked ones installed on a car yet. We should have them up for you guys soon though. As for the "smokiness", it's not really as dark as the OEM ones. Also, the outer lines are not as dark.

Good news!

Accidentally came across some smoked ones shown installed in an old thread on an European E90 (on a Montego Blue also!) It was available on some German site, and looks EXACTLY the same as the ones on EAC, Adamaster, **********s, BavarianX, and JLeviSW. Probably the same manufacturer with different distributors, like Eagle Eyes LED tail lights were for the E46.

Maybe someone from JLevi can confirm.


So far, the LED brakelights look quite bright, even in daytime. Compared to the OEM blacklines, they look just slightly less smoked in both the top and lower parts.

I got them and sent them back.
Not that anything was 'wrong', but I found them kinda cheap looking:
- no rear reflectors
- no 'side light', just red glas/plastics

Yeah, from previous pics, there are no reflective parts, so I'm pretty sure they're not exactly fully DOT compliant.

Also from previous pics, we can see that the 3 horizontal light tubes do not wrap around the side like the OEMs.

However, if you look at the 2009 LCI pics, you'll see that the new light tubes will not wrap around as much as before. This is most likely due to the turn signal LED's physically taking up more space than before. So, if you look at the new tail lights from the side, it looks quite similar to the JLevi ones. Although the Jlevi ones have more of a red "wall" of plastic from the side than the LCI ones.

Also, what did you think of the quality of the tail light itself compared to OEM, in terms of plastic, construction, etc?

Just to clarify on the DOT approval, these come with stick on reflectors that you can add to the bumper to comply with DOT reflector regulations. However, I think they are a bit unsightly and should only be added during inspections

Under the LEDs??

I must say the apart from the sides, the lights looks pretty good compared to OEMs and I had no problems with returning the stuff, so for JLevi. Too bad they take a restocking fee of 15% though...

No, the turn signals are the top part where you actually see the individual LEDs, just like the fronts.

There is a 2009 E90 LCI press video floating around on youtube that shows the turn signals blinking about half way thru. It blinks amber thru the red housing for the euro, but I'm not sure whether NA will get that also or, if I had to bet, most likely red as we currently have.

I still don't know... I like the smoked LED tail lamps, but it would be nice if the 3 light bars were LED (like on the 5 series) and the turn signals were LED as well. For now, I still like the black line tail lights bettter. They're still very European looking look great in day or night with the lights on or off. Black Lines have been the best looking mod so far for the rear of the E90.

I got the same setup from Nick. I really love the led brake lights... super bright at night and love the "instant" on. I also have the Solaris amber turns signal lights as well. Great setup, highly recommeneded. Nick also took great care of me.

+1. I cant figure out why they didnt do the turn and bars with LEDs. Just doesnt make sense...

+1. Also, none of these after-market LED tail lamps continue the lighting on the sides, like the OEM ones (Black Line included). The 3 light bars should be LED (or like the all the other newer BMW's now - X, 5, 7 series and I think the E92's) and wrap around to the sides as well.
