Graphs as promised - Steve you may want to put them in your first post.

Final figures 367 BHP/410 Ft/lbs.

These 2 graphs are from 2 seperate runs on the map we finally settled with. It was difficult to put the autobox under load without it kicking down so I had to feather the throttle in at the begining of the rev range. With some more tweaking peak figure of 370 BHP will easily be acheived but the area under the graph is more important.

60-75 Ft/lbs up to 4500RPM and still making about 50 Ft/lbs towards end of rev range.

Why is the torque figure "lumpy"?

The original isn't exactly smooth either :-)

We were getting sideways movement on the dyno. Also our Dyno doesn't have graph smoothing which would have made the graphs look more aesthetically pleasing. The delivery is not lumpy whilst driving the car on the road.

The car was going sideways? Needed tighter strapping?

Very slightly - once we have strapped the car we wouldn't change the strapping as this can skew the results.

No, I wasn't suggesting it was a poor map! As you say, lateral squirming on the rollers under load would explain it.

Steve, not wanting to rain on the parade, cos I'm very excited to see this in the flesh, but the Birds Mobile has been re-mapped since, well I dunno at least a year...

It was dynoed with us at the October event and hit 360 ish.

;-)

JW . p.s. no DP demonstrations from me !! ;P

SJ
Hi SJ

What Steve means is first car in the UK mapped through the OBD port. I believe the Birds solution involves sending the ECU off to someone in Germany.

Is no one thinking about running the procede from Vishnu? This is an add on box that works with the cars ECU and is not detected by BMW on servicing?
If the Evolve solution has been remapped through the OBD port does that make mean its uploaded onto the ecu in the car?

I like the the idea of getting a little more out of the car and it still operate within very safe parameters so maybe Evolve is the best option for me?

Thoughts?

As my technical and mechanical knowledge is extremely poor (i just drive the bloody things!) i will leave such questions to the pro's ie Evolve who did the work on the car. All i know is my car feels bloody fast and im very impressed with the results of Evolves custom remap. Im certainly looking forward to going head to head with any other 335i or d thats been tweaked and fancys having a go!!! Not sure if i will make UK6 as im doing Snett tomorrow and the Ring next sat, so dont want to upset the missus too much, but i hope to catch up with you soon Jimbo. Steve

Not that its any of your business Oli - but my car is up for sale on Pistonheads still because my ad that i placed a few weeks ago still has some time left to run so i tweaked it to show the latest editions and see what happens - if someone offers the asking price i may be tempted to let it go, if not i will continue with my modification list - i may even keep an advert continuously running to keep testing the waters. That sufficiently answer your question Mr Nosey Parker!!!!?

Not being disrespectful, but I thought Oli's question was totally valid and didn't seem intrusive at all, considering your very recent, excellent and praiseworthy write up of such an immense car that seemed to be at odds with it being on open forum for sale.....
