OP good that you got the new LCI. Such a better version of lights then pre facelifted. Pre tail lights over LCI ? lol. I can understand you guys like your cars but damn, I would not even compare the two tails. Pre faced are prolly one of the most hideous taillights on 3 series!

Agreed. I was about to respond with essentially the same thing, but you pretty much summed my thoughts up.

Almost 100% of the time, people are going to say they like the version on their car over the other. I can agree that the blacklines are a HUGE step up from the stock pre-LCI tails, but I still much prefer the stock LCI tails over those (hence me owning an LCI). To each his/her own though!

OP: I'm not too sure if the trunk lid is a direct swap, but if it is.. then yes you can swap. If not, blacklines would be my choice. Cheers!

That is because your idea will never happen. Nobody has the balls to do this conversion because of the custom fabrication that has to be done. Going from PreLCI to LCI is basically just like swapping to blacklines, with the addition of a new trunk. Which is what most people do when they get Vorsteiner trunk+ blacklines.

Trying to go to E92 tails...forget it. You can't reuse anything. I did E92 conversion for the front, and needed to get custom parts done by Vorsteiner. Costs about $7-8K to get it all done from scratch. No way anyone on here is going to be willing to do this type of change to the rear. I considered it back then...and decided it was not worth the effort.

Now, since then I did get M3 front done, and LCI rear...which looks freaking good. Much better than blacklines.

I am hoping that with the E92 facelift coming soon, I can retrofit the E92 LCI tails.


Many E46 coupe people did the conversion, but it did not require a new trunk.
