I'm hoping to do the track day on November 26th just waiting for confirmation from work but would definetly be up for another Snetterton Day in 2009. The car has not been in limp since Snetterton and performed faultlessly at the ring so I'm going to leave it be until after the next track day to see if it re-occurs, the Guys at Evolve have been really helpful and suggested I can come back at anytime in the future to have the torque reduced so excellent service Hopefully the Guys at Evolve will have a 'switchable' solution in place early 2009 so I can have multiple maps as I did with the GIAC software on the S3 - monster torque for daily use and a less aggressive map for the odd track day, keeping them crossed as this would be ideal

Your figures are not dissimilar to Spin's (wheel figures) in post 16. 290ish at the wheels is pretty impressive, and as Carlos so eloquently put it is around the 350 mark, and would give the DXB a headache down the pod. |

The estimated drivetrain loss for the 6HP19TU and 6HP26 automatic gearboxes on the 335i/335d is 18%. A manual version of the 335i is approximately 13% (figures directly from BMW technical, supported by documents I've seen from ZF Engineering)

I think that any *35d running 350bhp and 500lb/ft+ will experience limp mode at some stage given the right conditions, as it's right near the limits.
It also appears that the tuning game has stepped up a level since the turn of the year when your average figure was between 255-275 hp at the wheels and 325-345 bhp at the fly. Bigamos's figures of 290 atw may be because of the Dastek reading high or may be genuine, Spin's figures are correct when compared with all other *35d's that have hit Evolve's rollers (like for like)......just means that we have faster *35d's out there nowadays. Jules. |

Nothing has moved on. All the maps are very close to one another. This Proved by the pod result. You have run several different companies maps over the past 1.5years. Your no quicker than someone who has run a map loaded since the beginning of the year From a company you once yourself run with.

Thought you'd bite. I disagree. By stepping up a level I mean more cars now have 340bhp unlike many others in the past that barely had 320bhp. In fact there are a fair few cars out there now with 350bhp. It's actually quicker by 1 to 2 tenths, not 0.1 tenth?? You ran a 13.38 which is a lot closer to 13.4 than the 13.3 you claim in your signature. I was quite happy with my cars performance to say it was the first time it had ran there. It shows that 20bhp does makes a difference......therefore moving the game on. My performance at FT also proved that the Evolve map is quicker than the previous one and the one I ran at FT in 2007. The times may have been a sham, but it beat cars by more than it had beaten them previously. My car was previously 334-335bhp with the DMS map, it now has more so is quicker than it was previously. Game moved on for me if not others. Jules. |

Ok your car is minutely quicker maybe . But it will also go into limp home mode on track. Mine does not.
How many 13.2's did you run Jules? One, and i know that. I aint biting, just makes me laugh that you think the games moved on. Not really, if yu had posted a 12.5-12.6 @ 110+mph, then yes the game would have moved on. 0.18 tenths is a *** paper.

0.18 s over a quater mile is a lot Carl, @ 107 mph it equals 8.56 metres (or about 2 car lengths) to drop down 0.7s (12.5-12.6) like your saying would be "moving on" would need approx 100 extra hp given everything else remains constant.

It was ran on two dynos, Track Car Solutions Dyno dynamics RR and at Evolve on the same type of dyno. At Evolve it was left on the rollers and a new map applied and ran again to see the gains of the new map.

Just did my first dyno this weekend at the Coronado Speed fest on a dyno dynamics. I'm at work, so I don't have the sheet (can scan later). I pulled 315 hp at the wheels. The tech said it was in the neighborhood of 380-390 hp at the flywheel (given 18-20% loss).

My current map has never gone into limp and has had much more arduous testing than it had at VMax Brunters when the DMS map went into limp. I do not have the same map as Spin, so don't offer up that comparison. I actually ran 4 times in the 13.2's, 10 times in the 13.3's, how many attempts did it take you to break 13.5?? Interestingly it was one of my first two runs that proved the quickest! After that I tried a few different set-ups. You need a better informer........ You are biting...... So we may as well agree to disagree, I think that the mapping game has moved on another level with customers now getting 340bhp+ where applicable, unlike a lot of early customers who were offered this but never got it. In most cases these customers were more than happy so it's almost unimportant. Anyway, I am biting now, and what's a few lengths difference over the 1/4 mile between two 335d's.... Jules. |

I think this place should be called Julesandevolvepost.com
Ask spin how quickly i was goign around snetterton. Twice ive hammered it round there withou limp. think it would be more like half a car length actually. 4 times into the 13.2? and 10 times in the 13.3?s maybe the crowd wasnt watching.

Have you had the gains verified on an independent dyno? Perhaps some scans of the timing slips would silence the doubters! |
