Yes, that is a great recommendation being I live in a exempt area of the state, and if I haven't blown the budget throwing money at this thing, lol. My back pressure is good, around .2.

I had some time to dig into the turbos. I suspected the wastegate was stuck open being that that actuator only moved like 3 threads with full vacuum supplied (maybe that's correct?), and that thing looked like a nightmare to get to, so I started from the top down. Played hell trying to get the small turbo free from the hard boost lines. Was able to pull the one inline with the compressor blades, was able to spin it a little. Then pulled the turbine housing off to access those blades...looks messed up to me, spins like a bent screw, and the shiny side has seen some contact. The second pic is with turbine turned 180*. Looks like it dug into the housing pretty good but didn't really seem like it seized. Anyway, anybody want to sell me a turbo? Lol, trying to keep it on the cheap. Or any leads on good replacement cartridges?

Here are some pics of the damage, not sure how it can get bent so bad...chunk of carbon? Hard boost lines had puddles of oil in them at the connections. Looked into getting a new cartridge, but all of them were from China, a big gamble. Plus, I wasn't sure how bad the damage was to the snail shells, and if it would mate correctly. There is a little damage to the hot side, kinda hard to see but from about 5 o'clock to 9 there is some wear. There is also a little damage to the cold side housing which coincides with the shiny fins on the impeller. The link is me spinning the turbo from the compressor side. Have a new Borg-Warner turbo coming tomorrow, along with some dry start turbo lube. Is there any break in period for these, or is there a “crank but no start” procedure for priming the turbo...even with the lube? Thanks...Dylan

Fixed...hopefully

Installed the new turbo, topped it off with some Victor-Reinz turbo break-in pre-lube and filled the supply lines the best I could. Seems to be all good now, no more limp mode under the exact same conditions and more noticeable power...haven't gotten on it yet for break in reasons (have about 40 very easy miles) but I think it may be fixed. Probably spent unnecessary money on a few things, but hopefully they will pay off as preventative maintenance items. In hindsight should have inspected the small turbo to verify the mechanics and start from there, instead I did the opposite based on my assumptions of the funky vacuum system and the myriad of pre-existing conditions. If anything happens I'll be sure to update, until then, thank you to all who helped and your guidance.
