These cars are really cool but they don't come in a package I see myself ever wanting. For the great capability of being a luxury GT these cars have I'd want an interior with more space. To have such exterior dimensions, weight, and price, I like something such as a C63 sedan much more.

I walked away from the test drive thinking I like the car, but I don't LOVE it for $78k used. And this was before COVID prices, I don't know what they're doing now. I still think for much less money, the S65 is a visceral engine. Yes, I know the cars are apples and oranges, but I didn't get back in my E92 M3 missing anything but the interior quality and design.

Yeah I mean at that point it's very much subjective. Although to be fair, an E92 M3 still represents what made cars cool and still does have a visceral feel to it.

I also have no issue with wanting more performance. My issue however (and I feel like I've said this a million times at this point), is when achieving that performance comes at the EXPENSE of fun. If you can have performance while maintaining the fun, that's the ideal situation. However more and more we're starting to see cars become more clinical. It's about hitting performance numbers as opposed to how the car makes you feel.

An example of this is the Model S Plaid. The performance is absolutely insane. But it feels so incredibly clinical and anticlimactic. Once you're beyond the initial shock of the performance, it all sort of gets to be sterile and unexciting.

That's an extreme example, but take for example an M8. The performance is incredible, but I remember reading a Motortrend article where they said something along the lines of, "how can something that performs so well feel so stale". By no means am I saying an LC500 is a better car than the M8. I'd get an M8 over an LC500 9 times out of 10. But it represents the direction we're headed.

The Lexus represents what used to make cars cool. It doesn't feel clinical or sterile. It's not trying to be a track monster. Would it have been nice to have more performance? of course. But I sure as hell wish newer BMWs had a whole lot more engagement.

And that's what every EV feels like to me... sterile and clinical. I don't care if it's an e-tron, it feels like it is just slapping layer upon layer of tech on top of something that is just fundamentally boring.

Indeed. Every car looks great slammed on a body kit with the wheels pushed out to the edges. A stock LC500 looks quite unique and interesting, but there's simply not enough performance or space for me for $100k. And absolutely "no" on all those LC's with chrome rims. Boooooo! It makes the car look dated, even with that futuristic body...a classic Toyota fail.

But sure, if I can find one that looks like that yellow one, complete with an aftermarket exhaust and tune, I'd consider it.

And the Lexus RC just looks like goofy to me, like an anime car.

I used to be a Lexus fan, but the interior and exterior, now they just leave me cold. I'd take an LFA, but really only for that engine and suspension. The rest of the car? Meh.

I'm actually completely with you on this. I happen to think 400hp is PLENTY for the road, and the only electric vehicle I'd be interested in would be an electric truck. I think you hit it on the nail when you say car nowadays have sacrificed fun for performance. This is why I don't care about 98% of the cars out there.

As I mentioned, the exhaust is pretty damn near spot on out of the box, which I find super cool coming from Lexus. That part is for sure fun. Is there anything else I'd describe as "fun" from this car? Not really.

Nothing wrong with that as a cruiser of course. This is also why I kind of have an issue with the IS500. Yes, I am all for an NA V8 in 2021, but I just wished it did something better than M or AMG cars from circa 2009 (yes I know they're reliable, I happen to be a Toyota truck fan)

Yeah I'm conflicted on the IS500. I was excited when they announced it but that excitement quickly died down. Now there's an example of it being not enough. I'm sure it cost them next to nothing to create it.

Concept car...? This is an LC500 with lip kit, flares, wheels and lowering springs. Go to M3/M4 forums and you will see this "borderline concept" on every other picture post. I just went there for you, here you go the first post: lips, spoilers, wheels, lowering springs = "borderline concept car"

No, you're right. I didn't realize it was so close to factory. The only real difference, other than bolt-on stuff, is the drop and the flares.

Still, for that money, it's a hard "no" from me. So many other choices in that rarified air.

Can't agree more with you on this... Lotus Emira is pretty much the same price (I know different classes but still). If we would be leaving in the normal world, those LC500's should around high 40's, which makes much more sense. But again, things are far from normal those days.
