Honestly I can't complain about mine, I have the "MK808 BT" which is the wireless bluetooth version of the MX808 I think; and has worked great on my BMWs, the Wife's Mazda CX-5, brothers Lexus, Mom's two tundras, and buddy's Yukon to do all kinds of stuff that would normally require a shop to do the work. It also give mfg specific codes and can record data when you are trying to troubleshoot something.

Only bad part is you need to pay for the yearly updates if you want to support the latest vehicles, but totally worth it IMHO.

FCP Euro is simply gouging the fuck out of people.
Again it's not FCP euro. It's every parts websites. Which leads me to believe it's not price gouing just general BMW prices variations... as they get old, old parts become more expensive. And these being special injectors it doesn't help.

FYI ECS tuning currently 491$ each LOL. ECS has them on backorder until 15th dec. I hope that's why the price are going up and on the 15 the prices go down across all the websites.

I think prices will come down eventually. I doubt they ever will go back to the $900 for all 6 days, but probably back closer to $1200.

I don't think this is all that big of a deal. As the N54 ages, you're going to see far less stock examples. It's already very hard to find a totally stock car. With the number of people I see completely removing DI these days, I'm sure by the time injector shortages cause any real issues with prices, a DI delete will likely be much more widely available.

Yeah for sure. Just the first time I was seeing this much of an increase and wanted to make sure and hope it wasn't for the long haul but ECS is already back at the old price.

Like the moment I need an injector the price shot up I was freaking out a bit there but I'm reassured. I have 5 others to do eventually

There are all kinds of aftermarket companies out there that make diesel injectors....I would think that someone would eventually start making quality N54 injectors.

Are there any reputable companies out there that rebuild and test N54 injectors? I know FCP used to sell reman injectors....not sure if they are still doing that or not.

Iirc, most diesel injectors are still solenoid-style injectors, whereas ours are piezoelectric (though the use of these in diesels is growing) which is unfortunately much more difficult to manufacture properly. Just a guess as to why

FCP has remans for $186.99 a pop. Infinitely better than anything you'll likely find on youtube.

Edit: Youtube? Im tired as hell... I meant Ebay

Yeah, only issue was that they require a core charge and you can only get it refunded if you return index 11 or 12 injector. But considering the core charge is now 50$ instead of 100$ when it first came out, might cop one of these instead with the current Genuine prices.

Also, not sure that's entirely true, I've seen some remans on ebay as well for around $125 and no core charge. Personally I think remans are just about as much of a gamble as used as long as they are both -12s.

LOL, yeah no possible way they went up in price right? Only FCP euro screwing people..... No, you're way off. N54 injectors have been going up in price every year, and it's not because aftermarket retailers are price gouging. Check the prices straight from BMW, they're the same.

bmw moved away from the piezo injector due to its costs and none of the new bmws use them either so you have no economies of scale. we'll probably see more pi conversions as the cost of these injectors keep going up

I posted the following in another thread, but seems appropriate here...

Rather than go on a mythic quest to find reasonably priced 12s, I would suggest buying used whatever-versions on eBay and treating them as a consumable, like oil, fan belts, battery, etc., especially if you are not heavily tuning your E9X. There are very inexpensive sub-12 version injectors all over the place, and frankly, its not all that hard to replace, recode them. You can get a set of 3 used 9s for like $100. Seems a lot more cost efficient than bending over and taking it up the ass by paying +$400 for a single index 12 - let alone six of those MFers. You buy a used sub-12 injector and it craps out after two years - oh well.

From my experience, I would say the mythic quest is getting sub-12 injectors on eBay that aren't crap. I tried it half a dozen times and it never worked out. And I can't stress it enough to stay away from Index 9's. They're the absolute worst.

It's back to the normal price now. It was always around $1800 for a 6 pack.

I was just quoted 318EUR/piece (at 4 pieces, 2 were upgraded previously) in Germany. The shop told me that the price used to be 289EUR but just hiked again.

This - don’t waste your time on ebay. Tried it twice with supposed Index 12’s that were good fakes after a warranty replacement from a seller someone else on this board said they had good luck with (1 misfired at low rpm but not at WOT, 1 couldn’t even hold an idle and misfired right away). Went FCP brand new just before the latest price hike and no issues of course with brand new OEM.

Am not disputing that 9's were probably the least reliable of the 12 iterations, but again - the price. Just for good measure, I had each of my ebay three-pack cheap-o used index 9s, cleaned/pressure tested at an injector repair place for $20/each and have one of them installed now and it runs fine. If it fails I don't care - just throw it away and put in another. Bit of a hassle, sure, but I have other things I'd rather spend $1,800 on than replacing all 6 with new OEM 12s. I guess I'm lucky that they are working without issue so far.
