Not worth the hassle or stress to deal with people like that. Whack jobs plain and simple. Don't mess up your life trying to pwn them - let them be local news for baiting another person into their mess.

- is the wrong mindset to live by - it's un-Canadian - if you ever used it, your court case would suffer greatly - could be trouble at the border - could be used against you by your attacker (who didn't have a weapon to begin with...) - would be a poor match against a gun, but could cause attacker to actually use a gun or other weapon. (it escalates the threat/situation) - you're not trained to handle either the situation OR the weapon - blah blah blah, I could go on. Have you never heard that the pen is mightier than the sword? Use your cell phone for something useful for once. Photo the road rager, photo his license plate, photo cars of witnesses, call the police, tell the road rager you have called police (even if you haven't). Always carry a pen and paper, which is useful to document any accident or traffic offense or insurance claim. People act like idiots mostly while they feel anonymous (and free from accountability). Take that away and see how they act. If you're going to be an idiot and carry a weapon, at least think about it for two seconds and learn from the police - buy a heavy metal flashlight, available almost anywhere. Think about how an officer holds it...got the idea now? At least you can claim it's "just a flashlight" when you go to jail for killing another idiot (who was likely mentally ill): http://reviews.canadiantire.ca/9045/...5P/reviews.htm Really - vent, get the incident off your chest, then let it go, and drive the best car in the world in peace....don't let some freak twist your life or wreck your future. Or the terrorists win ;-) |

CX-9 is for SUV buyers who still wants adequate handling and sportiness. Alright? Let's not stir all the CX-9 in the world as being bad just because of an isolated situation. I agree with having a weapon, but only use it at the last resort. That is, if he starts threatening or attacking you, then you take it out. Before that, use your wisdom and cell phone and cameras. Chances are, there will be witnesses around, especially since you don't go out late at night :P dL |

Similar thing happened to me on the Deerfoot in Calgary. I was exiting Deerfoot on 16th Ave and this van starts tailgating me and then at the lights, pulls up next to me. The two guys start yelling at me and my fiancee. I ignore him and pull up to the next set of lights. Before I get there, they pull right in front of me and park sideways across my lane boxing me in between the guardrail. They keep yelling for me to get out of the car cause they keep saying it's my turn to die. I got out by slamming the car in reverse, throwing it into drive, and then flooring it around them before they could get back in. The weird thing is this was when I was driving the Camry!
Since then I've considered carrying a weapon in the car. I considered a collapsible baton and a knife. And yes, I am trained to use weapons and disarm them. I've been doing martial arts since I've been 8 and I moved into more of the reality-based self-defense styles like Krav Maga. I've trained with police officers and soldiers. However, I would still not carry a weapon in the car. As zuluZero mentioned, if I did use a weapon, I could get in trouble as the "tools" suddenly become weapons. My case of self-defense would suffer as the judge would question why I would carry weapons in my car unless I'm looking for trouble. Also, TACTICALLY, it is not sound at all. If the law did not matter (because I would rather serve a few months in jail than lose my life or be paralyzed forever), a baton and knife in a car is not tactically sound. To use the baton in the car, you would have to unbuckle your seat belt, get out of the car, then swing it. That's not self-defense anymore but it's now considered assault with a weapon. The same goes for the knife. The only weapon that makes sense tactically is a firearm...which is illegal in Canada. The best tactic is to just get out of there as fast as you can. If you're trapped like I was and suppose there was another guy and he's boxed you in completely, use your car as a weapon. DO NOT EVER GET OUT OF THE CAR OR OPEN THE WINDOWS. My friends who are cops, and even the officer that was filing the paperwork for my Deerfoot incident told me that I had every right to ram that guy's door to make sure he can't get out. It's considered "fair use of force". Insurance will pay for your car and it's better than losing your life. On a side note, I carry a tactical flashlight (Surefire L4) in my car as opposed to any weapon. It's good enough to distract someone long enough for you to either disarm them (if you're trained to do so and you have the opportunity) or get away. Consider carrying a flashlight if it makes you feel safer. You can also use it to check your car for scratches too. |

I don’t know why people here have such a problem with anyone passing them, even when they are going slow??? I can recall countless number of times where people have gotten pissed at me for legitimately passing them. Just the other day i passed some jackass in a minivan driving 15km under the speed limit...The second i passed him, he pinned it and seriously tried his best to keep up with me for a good 15 minutes! Once we hit a red light, he pulled up next to me, and yelled at me for passing him! I told him that i wouldn’t have passed his dumb ass if he would have been driving at least the speed limit in the first place....So then he gave me this kind of perplexed look, nodded his head, busted a u-turn and headed back in the other direction! So who knows how far he went out of his way just to try and prove his point, only to be shut down by me in the end. Seriously, what’s up with that?
The only time i ever got into a physical altercation while driving was when some drunk native guy thought i was going too slow over the speed bumps in a parking lot (my car was low, so i had to do em sideways) so he ran up to my open window and threw a couple of sucker punches to the side of my face...I pinned the gas and he held on to the door till about 40 km/hr, let go and ate shit like your wouldn’t believe. I'm pretty sure half his face was left right there on the pavement. Quote:
