lol thats where I got passed by the 2 mentioned in my previous post.

This is why I don’t understand why all high-performance vehicle owners don’t have counter measures in their car. At the very least all of us should be using Waze and a high end radar detector. And of course nothing can beat the importance of visual awareness when you’re getting sporty in your sports car.

Typical west Texas road and traffic. I can neither confirm nor deny anything.

I've seen council estate boys driving around in nice cars, uninsured and as they all live with "mummy" they put all there money into, Sic turbos, wheels like a boss, slam on a chip. and of course sell drugs to get the rest of dat crap.

Pour people, or I would say, people who have to spend money on there kids shoes and education, dont have a choice between a dinan or a hocke set

I'm def not rich, have a family, but I bought a brand new 2 vert, but that was with meticulos planning and not pissing my wages up a wall every saturday night

All generalizations of course, it's not like I'm a saint behind the wheel either. Younger guys with performance-oriented cars will be prone to d-bag behavior no matter how much they earn. Everybody should be taken at face value and not judged by how they look or what they drive...

Agreed. Waze and a good radar detector are essential. I’ve done many west Texas drives and both are essential. Can’t imagine traveling w/o both.

Haha, the owner here put up a vid of him doin 90 in a downpour on cold Pilots, with results anyone with a modicum of intelligence or driving skill, i.e. she ate the wall then a mouthful of grass, would expect. Seemed proud of it till someone pointed out the insurance company could just as easily find it, and poof, gone, finally an intelligent decision.

As a FIB living in northern Illinois that goes north over the border into Wisconsin aka Cheeseland on a regular basis I know not to speed in Racine or Waukesha Counties. The troopers nail people 24/7 up there. With an IL plate you are a huge target. To quote Yogi Berra “everybody knows not to speed there, that’s why they are writing more tickets”. And yes I always see shLtboxes pulled over up there.

Before Waze was available I wouldn’t go on a road trip without my Valentine One radar/ laser detector. It saved my butt too many times to count!!!

I'm not even sure where my V1 is; somewhere in the house. I got more tickets with it than without. Instant-on, wins every time.

Indeed, it does, and of course, all the most gung ho revenue generators that seem to be in love with power, strategize their revenue generating by using instant on. Therefore, the only counter measure that’s affective against that is Waze. Of course, Waze only works in high traffic areas. Waze won’t save you on some country back road with very limited traffic.

I live out in rural Virginia. Radar detectors are useless and if a state resident are just a donation to the state until you pay the ticket.

The State Police will give you around 12 MPH. The local deputies I all know too well (no need to ask). I finally figured it out, I just slowed down. Anyway, the deer do a better job at speed enforcement. LOL.

I am very aware of Virginia police my friend. They are scary. They rank right up there with the Nazi gestapo. Virginia is an incredibly beautiful state that I lived in for several years when I was in the Navy. Just because of how the police act there I don’t think I could ever live there again. I have seen Virginia sheriffs and high-ranking state police officers being interviewed, and they scared the crap out of me. Nobody in our country should relish power like they seem to. Virginia would be very dangerous state to own a fun, fast car.

Yeah, LOL, a few years ago I got a letter from the DMV, suggesting my collection of "points" was maxed and I would be receiving a "calibration" event should I decide to add a few more. And Virginia "spots" you 5 points... .

Instant on can be managed by understanding how police use it. Be smart
Don't speed when there are no cars in front of you. If cars topping a hill or rounding a curve in front of you displaying brake lights, slow down. If you get intermittent alerts on your detector, slow down.

I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, and most traffic cops use instant on.

Spot on.

However even with all that very important advice it’s still the most scary method they use.

LOL. Where I drive there are mostly never cars in front of me, which is why I'm speeding...

I was driving on the west bound Express Lanes of I-635 between Central and 1-35E yesterday. 3 wide lanes and little, I mean little traffic. The speed limit is 75, and I was driving a little spirited- There was a car in front of me and one lane to the right, and as it topped a hill he slowed hard. I lifted off the throttle and as I topped the hill 2 Dallas PD cars had two cars pulled over.

I guessed LASER, so I kept my speed to within ~ 5 of the limit. The guy who had been in front of me must have decided that 2 police had to be all of them, so he took off. As I topped the next hill I saw a third PD car take off after and pull over the dude.

I have LASER deactivated on my Escort 360c. I got too many false alerts. I figure my instant-on counter-measures are about as effective against LASER, too.
