They have multiple sonar bouys deployed that have a range of 13,000ft. Issue is, if it was a systems failure, if there is nothing to create noise there is nothing for sonar to pick up.

I'm more intrigued by his theories being influenced by IPAs at 8:00 am.

the sub is like a cheap tube with windows that don't meet the pressure depth requirements because the CEO said it wasn't necessary... and it's controlled by a $30 Logitech controller

Probably not, because international maritime regulations will be revised to close whatever loophole(s) this tourist submarine was operating under.....

I did see that this company was under scrutiny not long ago about how deep their subs can safely go. After reading some about the company I suspect this was the result of complacency and arrogance. Complacency with not being thorough with maintenance checks and safety equipment, and arrogance with thinking they can push the boundaries and get away with it.

If banging was heard, why can't they "answer back?" Surely they can generate a loud enough noise that will propagate all directions to hopefully trigger another round so they can zero in? It would also provide significant trauma relief to know someone is looking if it's heard.

Basically the "sub" was some tin can pos with all kinds of issues and components not rated for the depths they were going. When told this the CEO said fuck off with that negative nancy shit and fired the dude inspecting it.
So yeah... that shit imploded at the bottom of the ocean. |

Sooner or later, the same thing will happen with space tourism. NO ROOM FOR ERROR!

Like I said earlier, it took 2 weeks to locate the Titanic (not a small object) using very high tech side scan sonar even knowing the general location of the wreck. It takes a couple of hours just to dive to the bottom. This is literally a needle in a very deep haystack.
