Are there 7B people on this earth yet?

Current wife was a package deal, with 2 teenage boys. Then I and the fruit of my loin came into the picture. We had to nearly double the size of the existing house. Remember that movie with Nicholas Cage, The Family Man? I don't need to, I lived it. Went from a Jeep and Harley living on the beach to minivan and a mortgage in da hood.

Love them all, but might have preferred a different arrangement in terms of number of children. The loin-child was not in the plans, but . . .

That looks awesome! Didn't even know you could modify a minivan.

I said the same thing, and now I'm a little obsessed with minvans.

There is an ongoing joke with me and my wife that you can with any vehicle "Lower it and put wheels on it" to make it better.

In the summer of '63, we took two days to drive from San Francisco to Denver. I don't recall the vehicle; it was a rental sedan, though.

It was two adults in front and four kids in the back. There was no A/C.

I think we were tougher back then; either that or we just didn't know enough to demand our rights.

In the 1950s -- before interstate highways and rest stops, etc., my family drove a number of times between east and west coasts under the same conditions -- two adults in front and 2-3 kids in back (sometimes my younger brother would join the dog in the cargo area), luggage + large dog in the back of the station wagon. No cruise control, no A/C. Small towns with speed traps, the whole nine yards.

You're right -- we were tougher (or dumber ) then.

Similar, dad drove me and brother and mom across the Mojave desert in summer in a bug. I can still smell the black "pleather" melting in the back. At some point he stopped at a rest stop and shaved both our heads. Why he had a set a Wahl in the car, I could never get out of him.

When we got to the other side of the desert and the Rockies, all 4 re-tread tires had bubbles. It took a few days for new tires to arrive in St. George. He bought the re-treads because we were "poor as church mice" but it ended up costing a lot more for 4 new shipped there, plus hotel accommodations, even at Motel 6. Probably most of the expense was for quarters to make the bed vibrate

To contribute to this discussion, there were eventually 4 of us boys. I was the only one who was supposed to be a male. After me dad wanted a girl. HE wanted to try for a 5th, mom said no way

^Oh Lord back to square 1. We both have desire. We also love to travel and I love that her body is 100% back to where it was when I met her (not really but sort of given her age now) and I love working out hard and getting 8 hours of sleep.

As far as the minivan goes, I rented that minivan once while my car was in the shop and I was blown away at how incredibly practical it was compared to our Volvo SUV. The captains chairs, the low to the ground big trunk, the auto side doors, that car felt more like a limo... cruised very well, was a joy to take to the beach with friends, I could go on and on. , easy to clean too!

The reliability scares me on Stellanis products, but it does look good. Another alternative is the Sienna and Odyssey.

If you have doubts, don't; there is no undo. The number of kids you have is plenty.

I would have happily stopped one, but I am actually stopping at 2.

I have 3 words for you: Dodge Caravan Hellcat

2 kids allows for man to man defense. 3 kids you’re forced to work out of a zone defense and there’s more chaos.

TLOL.

One thing having a lot of kids means is that there is never a boring moment. And they will fight to take care of you when you’re older, especially if you have daughters.

C&D extolls the virtues of minivans each time they review one. Their reviews can be summarized as "incredibly practical" in the multiple ways you've listed. It doesn't hurt that they'll run 0-60 in the mid-6s. Some of us likely recall when that was high-performance; it's still not too shabby given what else a minivan has to offer.

Totally agree. Kids are amazing and a blessing. But having lots of kids for the sake of having them is almost a form of gluttony. There comes a point when a parent simply cannot be there for a farm of kids (obviously more than 2 or 3).

This is not the world of our parents or their parents. We have real climate, food, and overpopulation issues. This generation will NOT have it as good as their parents. That is well known.

And this generation will NOT know how to drive a stick. Why bring more people in the world that can't drive a stick

Actually, Chrysler Pacifica Hellcat. Was never built but would have been awesome. I actually asked Ralph Gilles about this years ago but wasn't possible for many reasons, least of which is the engine wouldn't fit. I think there would have been tremendous demand, as seen with the Durango and Grand Cherokee. I would have bought it!!

Here is my thread about it from 2020!
