Not too difficult. Quite easy I'd say. But proper tools is a must.

I'm back with new story and new pictures
This time we installed Vishnu Procede RevII (not CANbus version unfortunately – still waiting for the wires to arrive). This was probably the longest RevII installation ever - it took us about 4,5 hours (including running usb cable to the glove compartment). First of all we disconnected some sensors and power supply from ECU: Don‘t know if this was necessary (it‘s not mentioned in the insallation video), but we did that just in case. Then some parts were removed: ECU cover goes off: Installing the harness: So, everything connected, time to start the car. And........the engine started very reluctantly, only after ~5 seconds. The first thing I noticed – limp mode and many errors. DAMN. We decided to read the codes with a code reader. Unfortunately, I had forgotten mine at home. We went to my place (~20 minutes away), I took the c-reader and came back to a friend‘s place. Read the codes: Something was wrong. The thing that we were most affraid of – damaging or breaking something. We decided to disconnect the Procede and check if the codes are still present. Disconnected the Procede, connected as it was – no codes. That gave us an idea that we connected something incorrectly. This time we decided to follow the installation video closely (actually, I suggested to do so, but my friend was very enthusiastic and didn‘t listen ) and it appeared soon that we'd attached one factory subconnector to the Procede connector wrongly. Finally, everything connected correctly: Started the engine and AGAIN – O2 code. We suspected that default map settings could be the reason and therefore it was time to check if my cheapo com->usb cable works (bought it on ebay for 4 USD ). Everything worked like a charm: It showed up the default setting of O2 Modifier was 100%. Changed it to 80% and codes dissapeared! Wahwahweewah Then it was time to run the cable to the glove compartment. It appeared to be more difficult than it seemed. We had to disconnect almost everything and take the ECU out of the box: But finally the cable is in the cabin: And the most „interesting“ part began – collecting everything... It took A LOT of time to reinstall everything. Unfortunately, one plastic holder (there are 4 of them) broke. Afterwards we uploaded the latest (02-19) nonDD Stg1 maps and went for a test drive. The first thing I noticed - turbo lag was more pronounced. Boost starts to build from ~2.5k rpm and max. boost is achieved at ~3.5-4k rpm. When it was stock, it seemed that max boost (and torque) is achieved at 2.5k rpm. And now the car fells more like a turbo car - you can feel the boost building. I'm not sure if this is how it should be. Made some data logs, will post them soon. To be continued...

Thanks. I'm planning to install catless downpipes this weekent (will post a review). I'll write my impressions, some data logs after installing it. I'm also planning to do a rematch with this GTI next weekend:
Will post a video.

interesting install on the forged DVs - I don't think I'll get them though. With any tune really, since you're not pushing max PSI down low, atleast not right away, you will feel the lag. "my friend" took his jb3 off and I definitely noticed the instant pull verses the turbo lag when tuned.

I hope that catless DPs will help to reach higher boost quicker.

catless downpipes
Hi,
It was downpipes' turn to be installed yesterday. I have bought ar design catless downpipes some time ago: Shroud goes off: Stock catted downpipes: Stock DPs off: Stock vs ar design catless DPs: One DP installed: And now about the process. We started working at approximately 3:30 p.m. We didn't use any installation istructions (just looked through quickly at home), DYIs. The biggest PITA was the lack of space. Unscrewing and screwing up O2 sensors, bolts from each turbo clamp and DP took us sooo much time. We took off stock DPs at about 6 p.m. and catless DPs were installed at 10 p.m. We didn't unsecure the steering rack - that was probably the reason it took us so long. But it's not the worst part of the strory. After installing the PDs, I started the engine. Everything was just fine. Revved a bit - no issues. So, we went back under the car and reinsalled the shroud, changed the clothes, took all the tools. I started the car again, took off and suddenly - engine malfunction error, the car starts to crank, shake. I turned the engine off, read the codes. There were 3 errors: misfire in cylinder 1,2 and multiple misfire occasions (or something like that). DAMN... We were so pissed off.. We checked everyhing closely hoping to find something (like a broken connector or damaged wires), but didn't find anything and the same thing was happening everytime I started the car. We decided to leave the car (it was my firend firend's garage) as it was late (0:10 a.m.). As soon as I got home (I took the friend, who was installing the DPs, to his place with my other car), I wanted to start a thred with a title 'HELP - Limp mode and misfire after installing DPs!' , but the friend had already found the answer in this thread. Thanks, e90post! It showed up that we had managed to swap both front and rear O2 sensors By the time I came to the garage this morning my friend had already swapped the O2 sensors (removed the downpipe, swapped the sensors and reinsalled the downpipe ALONE! WOW ). I hepled to screw up some bolts and reinstall the shroud. This time no errors. What a relief! Now some driving impressions. My car now pulls definitely stronger. Turbos spool up quicker. And the sound is just as I wanted/hoped it to be: a bit louder, deeper, but not too loud. Not a "tractor" Perfect. I'll post some comparisson data logs before and after the downpipes next weekend.

OK, I will do it this weekend. But sounds great. Just a little bit louder and deeper. Actually, my g/f didn't notice any difference. Just the difference in performace after all the mods ("your damn car is a rocket!!!.." )

It's not so difficult as it seems to be. The main thing - you have to have proper tools.
I decided to take my car to the shop for Quaife LSD installation. But I'll definitely install FMIC on my own (well... to be more specific... I'll help my friend ).

Well, there was no point installing all the mods during winter. When spring came, holidays, illness... Installed everything as soon as my friend/mechanic (lol) and I could.
