That is really with every aftermarket filter or intake though. I would suggest more than every 20-30k miles though.

You don't have to but now that you are adjusting the software, it makes sense to take advantage of the ability to change your A:F ratios to take advantage of an intake. Your software gains will be better with a freer flowing intake.
