The difference is where the front of the engine is located. From what I have seen, (B1) Bank One contains cylinders 1, 2 and 3 and is the set towards the front of the vehicle.

Can you post a picture with the cylinder numbers on them? O-Cha said the exact opposite here:

I'm at 25K miles and haven't had that problem yet. How often do you get the misfires?

I'll pull up the TIS diagrams tonight and verify/post them. Granted, not the same engine but same family:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...73&postcount=6

And the cousin engine:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_t..._M60B40_engine

Note, in both cases the number 1 cylinder was on the accessory side which is towards the bumper.

That was my impression as well and I operated around that. I am just confused now because O-Cha indicated the opposite.

I thought the front of the engine would be at the front of the car near the front bumper? At least that's what makes sense to me.........

I'm right around 25k miles as well........Just started getting the misfire codes last week, I'd say 3-4 times in a week and a half.

Replacing the sparkplugs or coils every 4 months becomes very costly but it is only the beginning of many problems associated with the DPs or tempering with the original cats - irrespective of the DP brand.

From the codes in your post also check you lambda sensors - quite possibly dead by now.

Well, based on scalbert's post, I think that cylinder 1 is near the front bumper and 6 is near the firewall........Makes sense to me, so that's what I'm going with.

Bringing my car into the dealership to get it looked at regarding these problem, hopefully it's just the injectors, but could also be the fuel pump.

We need to know for sure though. Scalbert and O-Cha are fairly knowledgable on the car, so we really need a difinitive on this one.

According to the attachment, Bank 1 is on the bumper side and supports what I stated. Thanks for adding the attachment.

+1, thanks!!

p.s. those bank 1 and 2 O2 sensors seems pretty close to each other. Is there a change that they might rub against one another? And cause our cars to throw the bank 1 or 2 senor codes?

Just curious........

TIA

I have gotten 3 limp modes upon cold starts in the past week. I pulled the codes and got cylinders 4 & 6 misfiring. Sounds like i should get new plugs first huh? I have 23k miles with the original plugs. Running tuned for 20k miles.
