I was thinking about taking my car to the track this weekend for that reason. The problem is I have 20's on it now so I am sure that is going to hurt the 60' and the trap. I need lighweight 18's for my track tires. Anyone looking to unload some cheap lol

I liked the user interface on the Standback for my buddy's MS6 when I tuned it. There were a few little niggly software issues, but it was fairly well sorted out and was quick to read and write. The real time tracing was nice also. I easily added nearly 60 whp, which was nice too

The only thing that bugged me, and I don't think will be an issue here, was that the PnP plug for the MS6 was VERY fragile and would bend pins if you looked at it too hard.

Advan sponsors the car and I have 18" tires but I need some 18x9.5 or x9 wheels to toss them on. I would rather not run hoosiers as much as it would make the car quicker its not a real representation of how fast the car is.

Eric do you know if the stand alone can set the boost lower than stock at certain rpm segments. i.e at 2000rpm when the DME expects .8bar it will see the .8 bar when in reality the boost is .5bar.

some very cool stuff....I like it. keep it going.

cp-e didnt make much of a splash with this system at first mainly because of the attitudes of the people pushing it.

now that AMS is using it, whole different ballgame.

Looks interesting and glad to see a new player in the game. And the boost control is very interesting. Now for the questions.

What, if any, timing control is being incorporated? You mention "Standback can adjust fueling and total ignition timing as well." What methods are being employed?

Lastly, why some many components on the circuit board; wouldn't a single chip work just fine? I keed....

I take it you guys will be doing package deals in the future? Like a fullback exhaust, intercooler, and the standback for ~$3000?

How about a big single turbo, fullback exhaust, intercooler, and the standback for ~$4500?

Just speculating here. Can't wait till my warranty runs out

Just curious, why wait. If after the warranty is gone and it is on your dime, why wait? You can enjoy the enhanced performance for more time which is a bonus. Plus, the likelihood of something occurring under 50k miles is less than after. OT I know, just curious as I have forfeited my powertrain warranty in the first year of the last four vehicles.

Hey Eric sorry to get off Topic for a second but when u guys do the Bigger Turbos, whether single or twin (whichever) will you guys be developing upgraded injectors or fuel pump or both to go along with it, because from what i understand the stock injectors right now under high boost maps are pretty much maxed out.

The problem at first was cooling and now with METH, FMIC, upgraded oil coolers and im sure soon to come upgraded radiator thats a done deal.

Problem 2,3 are bigger turbos which ya'll are workin' on, and 3 is MORE fuel. Which i havent heard anyone really developing anything like that. Thanks you in advance.

You make good points which I cannot refute. A "rational" person would slap mods on from day one and if something went wrong they'd hope to get BMW to fix it. But I'm not being rational, I'm keeping my eye on the theoretical value of my warranty. The ironic part of this is I'm an economist by training

Re: Fuel Issues

A "simple" solution would be to modify the throttle body and/or the intake plenum to have a single fuel injector. Said injector would only be used under load and would only make up part of the fueling with the DI making up the majority. Say our fuel system maxes out at 400hp and a big single turbo kit makes 600hp. You'd use the single injector to provide the 200hp of fueling above the stock system's 400hp (not sure such an injector is made now that I think about it...).

Alternatively you could have a methanol system that senses when the meth tank is empty and then simply cuts boost and timing. A "limp" mode if you will

I can appreciate the response. For example, I would ask BMW to fix something like a HPFP, which I am comfortable with my relationship with my dealer would occur. Outside of that, it is all on me and I sleep better at night not worrying. The acceptance of the burden is better than the worrying IMO.

And I am a practicing engineer so that may weigh on my stance.

In the end, we all need to do what is comfortable to us.
