Geez, seems to be too much FUD going around about intakes.
So far the only facts I have seen via dynos (hopefully tested properly and with untainted results) is that: Injen +10whp, aFe loses power, BMS DCI +10whp run 1 dyno...by run 3: -15whp, and CAI's: +5-10whp. |

I just installed the Fujita F5 short ram intake. Looks good, sounds good, throttle response is better, and acceleration is slightly better. Overall I'm happy. The cabin noise is noticeably louder during acceleration, but at cruising speeds it's just as quiet.
![]() ![]() Picked it up for $250. I had to buy a different collar where it connects to the throttle body since the kit is designed for a 330 and I have a 325. Not sure if it's any better or worse than the AFE or Ingen, just throwing another brand out there. The filter is oil-less and reusable. I like that. http://www.f5air.com/ |

The other thing is the UR is not the only CAI. STETT has a CAI available and I have tested it. The filter on the STETT is also substantially larger. Last edited by Former_Boosted_IS; 10-09-2009 at 01:15 PM.. |

I'm actually interested in this wastegate duty also - specifically the UR CAI. I notice my intake filter gets really gummed up which could cause breathing issues. Being that the filter is so low to the ground.. when it rains you can get a lot of muddy grease thrown up around it/on it. I never thought about it before, but I might try a DCI just to see if I can feel a difference. Also on the UR CAI, I sourced a larger filter - the stock one is small I agree. I just chose it because of cosmetic reasons (liked the chrome look). |

You guys confuse me
Hey All,
New to the forum after buying a 2007 335xi Sedan last night. That being said, the first thing I want to do is get an intake. I was thinking aFE or Injen. The afe is only $270 with free shipping on autoanything.com (use code LOYALTY) for 15% off instantly and then bing.com before July 30 for an additional 12% off. Injen is just a bit more. I just want to know what is going to give me more power. Afe advertises gains of 27hp (crank) and they have an install video on youtube that shows promising results... What are we thinking here? |

I would skip the intake and get a tune. Much better bang for the buck and proven results. My butt dyno didn't register any gains from my dci but the tune was obvious.

Injen is further away from the heat and has a great snorkel! It looks sharp and has no shield to restrict air. Both will sound awesome for sure. I wanted the AFE for a while, then I saw where people would buy them, and sell them right away afterward. That is not the case with the Injen! Try to find a used one for sale... its hard because everyone wants to keep them!....AFE's are everywhere!!!!!
just my 2c. I have AEM cones on my BMS kit.... the dry style are indestructible!!! Perfect for the guy that's always taking their stuff out for dealer service... If I had the extra coin I would go with the Injen... Good luck making your choice!!!

I like my AFE just fine...two cone filters (one for each turbo intake pipe), no sharing. Easy to install, looks and sounds good. Been working great for me for 2 years now. Only thing I'd change is move to the dry filters, because the oiled cotton ones dry out too quickly with the high airflow.

This is extremely confusing. With all of this being said though, I have narrowed it down to the BMS dual cone for $140 and the Injen for nearly $350.
Definitely in a pickle here. Is the Injen worth $200 more or will the performance/sound be comparable among the two? |
