So lets say I buy your software and my engine malfunctions...is there a way to hide this or uninstall it so the dealer wont know my software was upgraded?

WOW! I'm waiting on the sidelines because I want to see what the official specs for the new M3 are going to be, I want to wait for all the 1st year bugs to be worked out, and what mods will be available in the next few years. However, I'm getting more and more excited about the potential of this new turbo setup, mainly because of the testing you guys are doing. Your research and development appears to be very thorough and thank you very much for taking the time to share this information to current and potential e92 owners .

FYI - They never dyno'd the 330i that was mentioned in that article . The guy who did the tests told me this himself. How did they come up with 20% drivetrain loss? Its a joke...but lets just say that right now, I trust Shiv's results MUCH more so than Automobile Mag's.

A practical question: does it still seem to drive like an n/a car, or are the turbos more noticeable now? any lag?

My 335 is coming soon and performance mods are practically a foriegn language to me...

Can one get away with such performance mods with out BMW knowing, therefore not voiding the warranty? Or is altering the factory setup obvious to the dealer, and its just the inherent risk you accept when upgrading the performance through aftermarket enhancements (bye, bye warranty)?

Hey Shiv, regarding traction...what good would the power be if you can't put it down with the loss of traction that you mentioned or the intervening traction control? Would you have to get wider tires to be able to even launch effectively or maybe even R-Compounds? It'd be almost silly to see people chip their cars only to see them just spinning their tires when they mash on the gas pedal (and they will you know). I thought I read in a recent Roundel article that Dinan's supercharged M5 required R-comps because of this. I'm curious about this as I am about the tranny's ability to handle this power. And do you think that the lack of LSD will become magnified with the upgrade, if you don't notice this defiency already?

I know its still very early in your tuning, but in the future, I'd want to know what it would take beyond the software upgrade to fully utilize the power you're getting out of this puppy. I'll be following your progress very closely . Great job so far .

Shiv,
Thanks for all of the updates on the 335. Things are looking real good for the future of this car. Oh yea, just remember if you do start selling the Xede for the 335 or any other mods, you'll need to charge double what you would normally charge for the STI's, EVO's etc because BMW owners just naturally expect to pay more for anything they do to their cars. J/K'ing!!!

Great job on the tuning! I have to come by one of these days and check it out. I bet 350whp is easily attainable when you finalize the exhaust.

Would be interested to know any significant deltas in gas mileage and be able to see some more thorough data on temps at various loads.

This is a trouble every tuned vehicles must go through and I honestly don't think there is a definite answer for this. Its not like this is a 600whp supra. Traction is a problem, but hopefully the people who chip their cars aren't stupid enough to "mash on the gas pedal". Controlling the throttle becomes much more important as the car gains more and more power. 3500pds, 300whp, RWD, combined with upgraded wider/bigger wheels and sticker/wider tires, sounds like totally streetable car that we shouldn't really have a huge problem with. LSD will be a great upgrade though. but honestly, we are not looking at a huge V8 torque monster here. Lets not get too scared.

by the way, your E46 is absoutely beautiful.

It is faster. MUCH faster. My everyday evo is basically as far as you can take an evo without bolting on a big Garrett GT turbo. Some of the mods include cams, cam gears, Xede, Full exhaust, Ohlins, the whole bit, and I can honestly say that the tuned 335 is quicker than my car. Not only does the 335 make power everywhere, but the gearing is perfect for the power output. Those two items in one package makes for a very potent street car. I think light to light it would be close with my car, just because the Evo can put down the power right off the bat. But from a roll, lights out on the evo.

oh wow. dustin that is just amazing to hear.

I have a quick question. Since you guys are the tuning experts, from a tuning standpoint, would you say 335's TT motor is better to begin with(price to power output) or the new upcoming M3 V8? Obviously turbocharging the V8 is sweet, but that'll cost $$$$$. What is your insight on this?
