North American 335d's (early '09s had ZF6HP26TU, later models have the ZF6HP28) do the same starts in 2 while in 'D', but I find that even in 'DS', my car will make its way into 6th at freeway speeds.
I don't mind the start in 2 in D, because if I want to pull away smartly, I'll be in DS anyway. Cheers Duey p.s. I had been told by one of the master technicians that the start in 2 was purely for economy reasons to increase the city fuel consumption rating.
