Seems it has been further delayed till 5/6
I guess all we can do at this point is wait; I hope there is no damage to the cargo. I have seen some pictures of damage to some bimmers in transit and they look terrifying. |

Yeah - thats been my concern when I first heard of the 2 (now 3) day delay - presumably either storm/sea conditions or engine issues - hoping the latter as I am definitely feeling jinxed with this one (long story but ordered car on Dec 29th 2009 !).

Well thats good news - did they shed any light on why the ship was delayed?
Noticed that throughout this period an AIS station in Savannah used by MarineTraffic.com was down and there are very few in this part of the East coast (none in Brunswick) at least that marinetraffic has acces to. However other ships have shown up whereas Curitiba has not or at best sporadically - I wonder if the Curitiba has its antenna setup correctly or has a weak signal (again would be odd) - beats me, but if all is well then I'm happy! |

Vesseltracker.com shows the Grand Neptune and the Peter G Turecamo as docked in the car port at Brunswick - no Curitiba but the free tracking option here is likely well out of sync

Boy is it out of date - marinetraffic shows the Grand Neptune to be headed out 50 miles offshore as of 8 mins ago while vesseltracker has it still in port - I guess ignore the last post!

They had no clue why it was delayed. I had to make multiple calls earlier and Kline CSR advised me that the vessel had left Brunswick port on the 3rd of May.
I told them that the excel spreadsheet provided on their website with vessel schedule and voyage code indicated that the ship has been delayed!!! Finally somebody took 10 minutes to check and told me that it was moored in the morning. Seems the information provided was accurate, Vesseltracker shows that the Curitiba was moored 17 hours ago @ Brunswick,GA. I will check with the dealership tomorrow to see if it is at the VPC (may take 2 3 days to clear customs, but they will have a better status update). |

Sweet, nice pic! Let me know if your dealership gives you any update on when you can pick up the car.
Now lets get ready to make additional payments for a new car and insurance. Is it cheaper to add a second car with my current insurance provider (GEICO) or shop elsewhere? |

The vehicles have been offloaded from the vessel
However the State of California decided to be anal about diesel vehicles. I went to the dealership today and saw the bulleting after I got this email from my CA: "I am told the US Government has delayed the release from port of all 2011 model BMW diesels until they complete a 2011 EPA / CARB (clean air agency) Emissions Approval test. The US Government has indicated that tests will be conducted this month (May) and vehicles will be released. No specific date has been provided but I’d anticipate a mid to later part of May time frame… I apologize for this delay but it is truly something the manufacturers and franchises have no control of when the government decides to schedule new tests. And there is nothing the manufacturers or franchises can do to speed the government along! So the good news is that you went ahead and ordered your vehicle to your specifications rather than have us acquire the one that was already built which was about two weeks ahead of your order because that vehicle is still at the port along with all the other diesel vehicles" Expecting the vehicle to be released for transport within two weeks. |

In regards insurance too many variables for different individuals to consider - once you have an acceptable price it often comes down to your relationship with your local dealer/company etc.
Bummer re the diesel issue - couldn't see that coming. Have not touched base with dealer - assume 2-3 days at VDC and 2-3 more for trucking and probably 1-2 at dealership before pick-up which means at best end of next week but more likely week after. |

Aniv - were you able to confirm whether there was any damage to the cargo on the Curitiba or was it late for some other reason? Just curious as would like to be sure nothing is covered up on delivery! Bit paranoid I know - will prob. ask dealer also,
Cheers, C. |

There was no damage to the cargo, they are waiting on some seat mechanism part(s) for bunch of E9X's and EPA/CARB Certification on the Diesel models before they can release them to the dealer.
Sorry I forgot to mention that in my post earlier. Post some pics when you get your ride Regards, Aniv |

This is why its waiting, your CA should have been more honest with you. They should pay for the rental.

yep, CA finally called the port to see what was going on and she found out same thing that it's the power seat module holding things up. No dates. I am really frustrated.

I was so frustrated today about the delay I went to Moritz BMW's website and found their one and only M3 coupe... It just so happens that it had every option I wanted. Maybe it's fate!!!
But reality set in when I did the numbers, even if I could somehow talk them into selling it to me at invoice, it was still $20K over my 335i. Even with putting $40K down my monthly payment would go from $200 to $600. Couldn't see any sanity in that decision. So I'll just keep on waiting and dreaming about driving through the Texas hill country in my bimmer... |

Does anyone know the details of the power seat module issue and why this is holding our cars up at the port? Last edited by RFGuy_KCCO; 05-20-2010 at 09:10 PM.. |
