How do you propose he do that with a NA car with software only? Short of adding FI there is no way to get big HP gains like in the 335i. People know what you get from EvoTech software which are some of the most respected chip tuners for BMW out there, that is you get a few extra ponnies, better throtle response, higher top speed, etc. I think the price is pretty reasonable personally. You thought you were going to buy a NA BMW and spend $600.00 to get 50 plus HP?

Errr. Wow, great logic dude. I didn't think about adding any HP to being with let alone 50HP. Eh, fuck it I'll go along with you:

Yeah, totally bro! Hell, I figured I'd buy a 330i, drop $600 and have some dude with a cool lookin' computer thingymabob drop 100HP in my badass automobile. Then I put sum dubs on dat shit and we go cruzin' down de strip dogg. Damn! I'm pissed! I can't get 100HP for $600. I'm gonna go burn down BMW now. This sucks! I'm returning this heap!

The reason the EVOtech software is so pricey is because of the warranty. If something happens to your engine. And BMW blames the reflash, then EVOtech will pay the cost of all the repairs. So in a way, it is allot like Dinan software, if it breaks, you dont have to pay for it.

If the E46 328 for the same gain cost $590 list- how is E90 cost is $895?
I’m not trying to negotiate as just rationalize for myself before making a purchasing decision.

I honestly don't have an answer to how they decide on the pricing, as only EVOtech really knows. All we can do is suggest that at times a lower price or more reasonable price would be better off on certain products. You also must look at what the competition is also selling a similar product at.

The E90 when first released was, released with high numbers and a high price tag, since then more concrete numbers have been proven, which showed a lower gain. With this lower gain, we requested that the price be lowered, or for us to be allowed to provide a special price for the E90 community to compensate for the lower power numbers.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.

Where are the dynos for the 330i?

Evosport in AZ is not even advertising the ECU reflash for the 330i. For discretion, I IM'd James multiple times on multiple days over the past two months on AIM, and am patiently waiting for a response.

Give me a day or so to track down the 330i dyno sheets. The 325i dyno sheet I have available for anyone that is interested.

I'm really sorry to hear that James hasn't gotten back to you. Direct your questions toward me from now on, I'm the BMW guy at the shop. I'll get you answer the same day unless it's the weekend. Don't be afraid to give us a call either.

dude ill tell you the whole story behind Evotech, ill call you in a bit....but this price is decent, best of all, NO SPEED LIMITER.....

BTW: just a different software, you have to send them your ECU in the mail and they overnight it back, takes 2-3 days MAX.....

One more thing. There has never been any specific horsepower gain figures posted for the 330i. The only claim I have heard is that "it seems quicker," and that it adds horsepower/torque, likely not as much as can be gained on the 325i. No dynos, no concrete performance gain figures. I don't think this is an unreasonable question for the consumer to ask.

Look at my garage and how much I have spent on the 330i. I have no problem plunking down some extra cash for added performance, but I won't do so without some STRAIGHT answers. And if I were to purchase this item, you can be damn sure I'd dyno test it.

And what sort of assurances are there that the DME70 will not compensate with it's own programming that controls adaptations? i.e., will the car's ECU adapt and slow it down again in time?

damn... i think my next car is gonna be a G35 or something. a simple intake gives the g35 sedan 10-11 more hp to the wheels; dyno-proven. and here theyre asking for 600 bucks for an ECU that will *maybe* gain 10hp.

You don't want a G35... they're nice but they're no E90

Lets see, what you guys want is more power and the ability to get even more HP and torque for reasonable cost per HP... but yet you love your e90 325's and 330's...hmm... if only BMW offered a car very similar to yours that fit that bill

Yeah yeah....we know.

It just sucks that there is huge discrepancy here between the tuning of the 2006 and 2007 models. But, hey...that is what happens when you buy a car 15 months ago...there will always be something better down the road.

Let's see how the new owners feel in 15 months or so....when other things.... start to hit the road.
