ANooooooooother update

So I dropped of the car again today. Long story short, new amp has not fixed the problem and they're not 100% happy to give the car back to me. And fair enough, I would create a massive scene if they gave it back and the problem wasn't fixed. Once again, nobody has any idea about what to do and the techies plan to "do more testing," in order to find out.

In the mean time, i have a fully loaded 325i sport, (with individual audio) so im content for now.

Thats ridiculous ! 7 MONTHS !!!

Next time they call to say your car is ready, just say you dont know what they are talking about and hang up - dont ever go back, just live with the 325

well there's not much I can do. My problem really does have everyone stumped. The only thing I can think of next is just to re-order another Alpine kit and give it a go, but this has essentially been done already by ordering separate parts and the problem certainly isn't with the tweeters or new mid speakers. I'll see what they say, otherwise I'll just get them to take out the kit, get a refund, and go aftermarket. I don't want to kill warranty though that is one of my concerns.

All the gadgets are nice, and Pro nav really is a step up in terms of everything although I did find it a little confusing at first coming from the old business nav. Honestly, I am a little underwhelmed by performance though. I was expecting a bit more to say the least. Under like 4000revs its barely noticeable in terms of aural pleasure, only in mid-high range does it become pleasing. Driving around town (I may get some stick for this) but I don't see the need for the 325i. It just doesn't seem THAAAT great to justify the huge price gap over a 320i/d. Don't get me wrong, it is certainly quicker than a 320i (obviously), it's just that it doesn't feel any more urgent. Perhaps a M/T can make better use of the engine than A/T too. Reading up on stats, according to bmw the auto is quite substantially slower. Mind you, this car does have +/- paddles instead of push pull so you feel more like an F1 driver.....

How common is the "sports suspension deletion" option? This car has Msport pack, but to me the steering still seems light and the car seems to roll a bit more than mine. It looks like its riding a bit high too. Is there any way to check for sure?

Is the Aus model 325i a direct injection unit? Or usual manifold thing. There is a big difference in fuel consumption but I remember BMW Australia bitching a while back that Aus grade petrol and BMW direct injection engines didn't mix.

It's a 2.5L with valvetronic and multi stage intake - 218bhp.

Not sure what you're expecting SBC.. above 4000rpm is where it gets interesting, when the intake opens up. Mine screams anyway

I dunno, I just thought it would be a bit faster

Totally agree though, mid-high range is great.

I had a 320i loaner recently. The step-off is nicely brisk as the motor has a nice spread of torque so, yes, around town, half throttle and between 1500-3000rpm it does feel acceptable and not a lot slower.

M-sport is ?15mm lower - if you look at the rear arch/wheel relationship and compare to your car it should be noticeable.

Bad luck re the sound.
