I have run GIAC stage 1 and now I am running JB3 and I have been completely satisfied with both. Since I have been having HPFP issues and dealing with the dealer , tune wise the JB3 suits my needs better since GIAC is about an hour away from me unlike the JB3 that takes me 25 minutes to pull out if needed. Both great products and on another note that JB3 map 5 is insane. Best of luck.

op, as far as the 3 options go, here is the short simple version. Giac- since you are worried about removal for dealer visits, i would say just toss this off the list immediately. The simple fact is that a piggyback can be removed very easily in minutes and thats that, no worries. now comes the two most commonly used tunes jb3 and procede. Jb3- the jb3 is a great tune, it has proven itself time after time as a reliable tune and has produced some great times at the drag strip. The JB3 uses different numbered maps that vary in their aggressiveness, boost target, timing, etc. basically mild to wild. you will have to select the map right for you based off of your mods and fuel. Terry as well as other forum members can help you with this. The JB3 does not have some of the features that the procede does however it is known for its excellent customer service. Procede- the procede is also a great tune. Just as the others, it has proven to be a reliable and safe tune and again has produced fantastic times at the dra strip. Where the procede starts to stray from the JB3 is its use of canbus. this basically allows it to monitor various engine parameters that the jb3 can not. because of its ability to monitor things such as the wideband afr sensors some consider it safer than the jb3 as the jb3 relies on the stock knock sensors. basically the wideband is faster responding than the knock sensors and allows the procede to pull timing quicker. The other main difference is the procedes autotuning feature. It has been called the tune that tunes itself. The procede has also been known for good customer service. summary: JB3 = good tune no cool litter user features Procede = good tune various user features (ie. boost guage) I don't think anyone can argue with what i just said. there are other more complex things but for what you need to know that about covers it. but as has been said, just drive the tunes and decide. |

Nick. This Thursday if you don't have your JB3 installed yet, I will give you a ride in my car to let you feel for yourself. I told you last Thursday to take the car for a spin around the parking lot to see for yourself but you didn't want to. Honestly I don't mind at all. You have the same car as I do, I would think you would respect and drive carefully around an empty parking lot with no problem. But like I said man, this thursday if your intake is not installed along with your JB3 I will take you for a spin to show you just how great the JB3 feels. Maybe somebody else can show you a PROcede tune if available, but since you have ALREADY PURCHASED the JB3, I might as well show you what you are missing out on.

For 99% of dealer visits, switching the GIAC to "stock mode" which takes 60 seconds, would suffice. For the Procede or JB3 there is a bit more hands on surgery. For mechanical retards like me, GIAC wins hands down.

If you think you might ever want to tweak your tune to better suit your needs, you should stay away from the flash tunes. The JB3 and Procede offer much more ability for the end user to tailor the tune to your own needs.
If you get a flash tune you'll be thinking, well this is as good as it gets so live with it. With the JB3 and procede you will always be able to experiment to some degree which can be a huge difference in how you appreciate your ride. |

Please post one instance where someone with a GIAC tune was denied warranty work? My dealer actually recommended the GIAC tune over the piggybacks.

Id go JB3 as well, i have it and LOVE IT.. its so simple, install will take you about 30-45minutes taking your time, Map switching is Real easy, and the Quick respond time from terry is unreal !
Im in longisland, i have a full bolt/Meth JB3'ed 335i if you wanna go for a quick spin... And it SUPER EASY to remove and delete all codes prior to service. |

At this point in the tuner war, I would hold off until the jb3can bus technology is released. Then compare both and whichever has the most featurers wins.
