So since your map is programed for 91oct. gas will there be anything to worry about if you did use higher octane while your xede is installed? Im pretty sure i read it doesnt matter but jsut checking

nice bro ..how does the car FEEL on the street?..is there a SOTP difference?..i would imagine so with a 76 lb. gain in torque.

Yep, adding anything higher than 91 will not affect the performance. It may optimize it just a little, but it's most likely a minute amount.

Yes, there is a SOTP difference. As expected, once you begin to raise the boost you will feel a spike in power from the very low rpm range; anywhere from 1700-2300 depending on what gear you're in and the load you put on the car.

It's fine by me since rarely do I drive at that engine speed (unless I'm at freeway speeds cruising) and what you get is more responsive power at anything higher than the engine speed I listed above. In short, the Xede :rocks:

I could never install Xede by myself...I'm too nub .
And if i would do that that i would prefer to get the kit which includes switch as i spend some time driving on the heavy traffic and this extra power would cost some more fuel

unless something has changed in the last couple weeks, i remember shiv saying several times that with the xede the fuel economy with normal driving will go up a tad. its just under spirited driving that it will decrease (but still, not a huge difference)

Yeah, my chipped A4 had those results. Neutral to slightly-improved MPG around town and lower MPG with the pedal to the metal (naturally).

Just curious, but how come the oscillations are only very pronounced on the XEDE run? I don't imagine you changed the rig between runs...

sflgator, I won't be able to hit up my local drag strip until March and I don't think any of my friends have a G-Tech on hand. If I get access to one, I'll give it a shot.

tekno, the kit I have is the solenoid-less version. With all the plastic covering in place, it looks stock



Once you take it off, it still looks stock except that the Xede is tucked away in a seperate compartment with some wires coming out... nothing messing looking at all. I believe my gains are typical for 91 octane (I use Chevron). Comparing my numbers with sflgator's, he produces something around 20 more ft-lbs of torque but his HP was close to mine. Maybe octane has a greater effect on torque than hp???
I'm not sure where in CA you live. I live just South of San Francisco, and I have a G Timer (and the perfect place to do 1/4 mile runs). If you want to hook up to do some testing (and videoing!) PM me. I drove Shiv's car for some 0-100 tests, but all I had was my handheld Treo video, so all I could get were timing estimates

I couldn't resist and had to take the car into mountain twisties for a quick run just now and my lord, I have to once again learn to control the throttle again. Yep, Peter Pan BMW in San Mateo, California. Hey, even Peter Pan grows up and no longer can fly, so what's the next best thing? Open a BMW dealership and get his own personal BMWs at cost!

Dude, I live 2 miles from Peter Pan BMW! BTW, they let me take a 335i out by myself. Very cool dealership!

That 0 to 100mph run at night is INCREDIBLE!!! I didn't time it myself, but that was FREAKING FLYING!!!! That had to have been so much fun.

I'm not an expert in dyno pulls, but I suspect after the stock run was complete, the car shifted ever so slightly to create the oscillations. Or the car had so much damn torque it just moves the whole machine... I wish...

Yes, the sales folks there are pretty much that type. If they judge that you are serious buyer, they'll just give you the keys and let you drive off for 30 minutes without sweating it.

No, under normal driving conditions you should not see much drop off in fuel consumption. I've driven almost 2 tanks now and the first tank I had about a 3mpg drop because I was constantly on boost. Now on the second tank, I'm at where I was before the Xede since I'm driving it "gently" lol

I believe the Xede to be the best bang for the buck now. Getting an exhuast would be nice, but I can't justify to myself that $1,800 bucks is worth the 10-15hp gain and the ultra cool sounds. And I do admit, a 335 with exhuast sounds glorious!

This is not a subtle increase in power, the additional 75ft-lbs is obvious the moment you dip into the throttle. You can say I'm bullshitting or whatever, but yesterday a buddy compared his E60 M5 to my car and said he feels that the torque is much more apparent in my car than his. We traded cars and took it on a couple of quick freeway onramps to test acceleration. Being his car is NA, it's still progessive power with the midrange really starting to kick in. With a 335 Xede, right off from 2500rpms torque is pushing you into the seat helping to create a nice butt shape once you get up out of the seat

No prob. I meant that when I was racing around (hard acceleration), the fuel economy was worse... but it was going to be not-so-great at that point anyways, just because of the hard acceleration.

When I cruise (no hard acceleration) on the freeway or in town, I noticed that my gas mileage was still quite good (if not better than without the chip).

But, then again, those are characteristics of a turbo'd car... performance when you want it, economy when you want it.

$1300 for the XEDE, which will carry 2 maps (91 octane, 96 Octane, etc) and is switchable between the two maps.
