Has anyone heard from JamieA since the end of January? I can't find any posts from him more recent than that. I sent him a PM some while back and no response.

Could be that he just prefers not to answer.... I hope that is the case, and I hope he is well.

I just miss a friend.

Jamie usually has several weeks of intense posting then he gives himself a massive e90post break. Im sure he'll be back posting massive amounts again.

We in the Aust section miss him as well. he usually gave life to this section.

My E92 335 is now sitting at the "Zeebrugge, Belgium" Terminal on May 31 awaiting departure, but does not get loaded onto the "Trianon" vessel till June 12th
That's a whole 12 days till its on its way - seems like a long time to be sitting in one place at the Shipping Terminal . Most guys cars here seem to be on their way 3-4 days later .
Expected vessel arrival in Sydney is 21st July.

THIS IS KILLING ME

Smile On Order!

Hi everyone! Ordered my 335i coupe on 11th May but still don't have a production number. This makes me suspect I have missed my dealers June allocation and it will probably be July now. This means a delivery to me late September/early October!! I have never had to wait so long for a new car, its going to kill me. Still, tracking it using the stuff outlined in this thread will make it a little more tolerable. I am sure the wait will be worth it, they say anticipation is half the fun!

Smile

Thanks astra, I dare say I will have many questions over the coming months. I will definitely let you know what the car is like when it arrives. I had a morning long test drive - fantastic - even better than my Alfa 147 GTA (now gone) and they are tremendous fun to drive (don’t believe what you read in the Australian motoring press about the 147 GTA - they are a tremendous car and an absolute ball!). In fact, the 335i was the only car I test drove that surpassed the GTA in speed and luxury, and felt as competent in the handling department. You can probably tell - I am REALLY looking forward to getting this car!

Atilla - were you able to drive the manual 335 at all? That's one thing I regret not test driving before i ordered, as I hear it's just that bit more raw and a bit faster than the steptronic 335i

Hi Danielt, No, I didn’t get to drive a manual but I think your comments are probably right, this seems to be the case with most sports cars I have driven. I have been driving a manual for 3 years now (the GTA). Alfa also have a selespeed box, but quite frankly – the ones I have driven were rubbish, especially in full auto mode. So no contest – it had to be manual.

However, once I drove the steptronic (mostly in manual mode – old habits die hard) I felt it was so good it was a must. I have spent a few days on racetracks and IMHO can change gears pretty quickly – but man the steptronic changes quickly, (at least the one I drove) I’m not sure I could keep up with it! This, plus many days spent in stop/start driving on Melbourne’s congested Freeways (I have to use my car a lot for work) means I was very happy to go steptronic - not too much of a compromise for a whole heap of convenience. So, those were my thoughts – from a committed manual sports car driver! Gee, I could have just said no – but there it is.

I've driven both and must say the manual was just that little bit more fun to drive. But yeah as a daily driver and stuck in significant periods of traffic i understand why people would go for the steptronic..

Exclamation Warning! 335i orders delayed!

World exclusive! An inside source has confirmed that 335i orders will be delayed even further!. An internal memo from BMW AG confirms that there is a supply problem with the fuel injectors for the 335i engine - some orders for June will be bumped to July, some July orders to August etc. BMW are asking dealers to switch cars were ever possible and discuss alternatives with customers (325i etc). It effects all E92 and E93 orders! So now our long waits will be even longer:mad:

Atilla - what did they charge you for your 335i? Were you able to obtain a discount?

Cheers.

Atilla, would you consider buying a demo 335 (as an alternative)?? or are they just as scarce?

Hi CaptOz, I feel I obtained a reasonable price (my order is at work I'll let you know tomorrow) but I didn't get much of a discount. Certainly the least discount I have ever obtained on a new car! The trouble is the dealers know that these cars are in very high demand - and short supply - and as a result can just about hold full list or give a token discount. My sales person wasn't being smart (he is actually a good egg - there you go Nick) when he said to my business partner (who had just received a massive discount on his new car - Mercedes CLK350) "I can sell this vehicle ten times over" He meant it! You have a better chance of negotiating a good deal on your trade in if you have one.

Hi Danielt, most dealers have one or two demos depending on their size, I don't know how you would go buying one. I wanted all the bells and whistles so I personally wouldn't swap for a demo (even though the wait is going to kill me)
