There are also some round traps like a mouse trap, that have an extended cylinder and a hole in the top. You bury it in place of their mound, and they see the hole at the top so run up there to plug it again and SNAP! I used those more than the smoke because I don't want to eat the smoke in my fruit or vegatables.

The trick with the water/gun is they have to be used together. Run the water a little bit, with the mound uncovered. THEN get the beer and gun, sit up high, and wait about 15 minutes before you see head pop out of the ground. Aim about an inch below the surface, that way they drop back into the hole dead and you just have to cover them up to bury.
