2). What is that lower pump for/do on the N55 motor? It's bellow the HPFP. The N54 motor (model) does not have this pump. ???
Ok, I am still waiting for the answer to Q#1.

Q#2. answer is the oil pump.

If you have a moment, would you mind putting captions with the pictures.

I for one have no idea what I'm looking at other than that I can tell they are some sort of motor. Which of those pics is the HPFP escapes me.

And yes, I've only seen the motor of my car once in the 3 years I've had it.

I labeled the photos in my first post - you can now see what a HPFP looks like! I also sorted out the N55 and N54 pics.

more engine shots from the Welt...

A few days ago I went back to the Welt again. I realized that inside that double cone there is a downstairs. So… I went to go see whats down there and I found a few interesting engine displays.

Welt…

Doppelkegel = Double Cone

Two nice engine displays downstairs in the keller of the Double Cone… 535i and 530d…

535i N55…

Turbo wastegate…

Crankshaft...

HPFP...

530d engine...

For those that don't know, the pump that drives the HPFP is also the vacuum pump for brake master cylinder, exhaust flap, and wastegate actuators on the N54, cannot comment on the N55 but i assume its the same.

Will do! I will be at the Welt in a few weeks for a factory tour (F30) and Welt/Museum visit. Damm... I am so spoiled.

Just FYI... all of these engine models are now gone from the Welt. I think the BMW Niederlassung(dealer) up the street on Frankfurter Ring still has the diesel engine on display. Its too bad bc these cut away models were really cool!
