I am waiting eagerly for my V12s to wear out so I can buy a set of light weight rims and tires. My main objective is to lose more weight, rather than looking aggressive. Does Forgestar come with 17" rims? If so how much weight loss compared to the stock 17" rims?
oh last thing - yes i'm on the stock sport suspension.

Forgestar wheels are also much lighter than cast wheels. The 18x8.5 F14 wheel weighs an amazingly light 17.6 lbs, where a cast wheel of this same size would weigh anywhere from 23-27 lbs. This saving of roughly 6-10 pounds per wheel makes a BIG difference in regards to handling and drivability. Reducing unsprung weight (weight that is not supported by the car's suspension, i.e wheels, tires, brake rotors, and brake calipers) is one of the easiest ways to improve your car's handling, braking, and acceleration. As a general estimate 1 pound of unsprung weight is equal to 10 pounds of static weight. (weight that is supported by the vehicle's suspension). By using this ratio if you were to replace your stock wheels that weighed 25 lbs with Forgestar wheels you would be saving 320 lbs. in static weight!

fact: my forgestar 18" wheels weigh around 18-19 lbs, and my oem 17" rims weighed around 26 lbs (i think).

fact: the guy who put my wheels on the car remarked that he had never seen such a lightweight set of wheels (for whatever that is worth).

recommend you hit up alan************.com (via email or PM) to get the tried and true sales pitch. good luck!

Thanks for the info. I am sure the Forgestar 18"s are great light weights. But I tend to not look at the pavement conditions carefully when I drive, and because of the economy our road quality is getting worse everyday. I figure 17" gives me a little more cushion.

Are you sure our BMW 17" "light alloy" weights around 26 lbs?

ha! "light" is in the eye of the beholder, i guess. yes, i just weighed one of the things, and my scale says it weighs 25.4 lbs. this is a 17" oem style 339 rim that comes on a 2011 e92 335i without the sport package.

believe it...OR NOT!

Ok I believe you and thanks for doing this. I assume my 285 rims are similar.

Since 17" after market rims are rare, I am begining to consider the 18"s

I thought yours had sport suspension?
