I cant speak on behalf of GIAC but as far as the fail safe and the procede go...IMO you should def. run a seperate failsafe in the actaul meth kit that when it goes below a certain level the sensor will cut it off...theres no such thing as being too safe. So you will have 2, one in the procede that measures flow(i think) and one in the physical unit...Please correct me if im wrong

Correct, as far as I know Giac hasnt implemented any fail safe settings, via a failsafe with methanol kits.

They only have a handful of Giac customers with Meth and I dont know how they are running their vehicles.

This is a stretch of my memory but I might have read that they are running two tunes?? if thats possible. The flash (GIAC) and lets say the procede (piggyback) to control the meth or would they work against each other?

No chance...

Listen, you can run methanol on any car, via a boost activated meth switch with no failsafe.

Its just your playing with fire cause you dont know if the meth is actually working unless you have a fail safe or a flow sensor. The procede integrates channels to read the output of labonte failsafe to know if your flowing accordingly.

Giac is a flash.... so, its just remaps the stock maps to run more boost, different ignition and fuel ETC

At this point it doesnt have the ability as far as I know, to integrate a failsafe.

There is no one running GIAC tune and Procede at the same time from what I know....I heard of people stacking Dinan flash with a JB+ but thats the most I heard of stacking tunes

again i say this... there is no need to run a failsafe on meth for GIAC STage 2plus since BOOST is still the same as the Stage 2 (16.5 psi max) and the only difference is a more aggressive timing table.

I think running any meth system regardless of tune there needs to be failsafe especially running any boost psi 16+...There is no fine line or way around this, unless you really dont care about catastrophic failures..

Actually, no you can't. GIAC does not offer a free trial. However, there is a 30 day full money back guarantee. If you choose to remove GIAC, they will actually upload your original BMW software.

I know you can run meth on any car with no fail safe, IMO you have to be an idiot to do so.

The ECU is fully aware on the amount of boost running with GIAC and its fully capable of pull the right amount of timings necessary. We are talking about maybe 1-2 degree more timings added on top of the stock timings.
I was running this stage everyday on both 94 octane and 94 octane plus meth. No switching, no codes and the car never showed any knock activity. When the car felt the higher octane more aggressive timings was used .

Yeah I understand what your stating, but IMO regardless I would not run a meth system without failsafe period

Well if it's safe then I don't see what's the problem ? The only problem with GIAC is the price and the fact that you can't get any money afterwords, but ofcourse flash is nice

BTW, I decided to run map 8 today for the first time ever going to work and driving back and it really feels so much better. I felt a true lag fix with this map as opposed to 5,6 and 7.
Does anyone know what a secondary oil cooler is? (a member refered to me needing it to prevent the overheating but the car doesn't overheat)
First time I hear of it...

Unless you track the car on a road course.... you wont find yourself needing an oil cooler, unless you notice your car going to limp mode from high oil temps.

I ordered mine for the street...lol but I just like to be safe. Last time I ran her up to 155mph(trust me, it will do it, hopefully with the procede I can break that old record, shooting for 175), my oil temp shot up to about 250, and that was only 1 pull. I want to be able to repeat that back to back and never have to worry about my oil temp. I would check out AR design 2nd oil cooler. STETT supposedly has a new one, talk to former boosted Is about that one. If you are going to the track and you are trying to hit 11's I think you def. need one IMO. Thats only if you wanna be safe. BMW had no idea the potential of the n54, so they didnt prepare it for what we are asking of it. Therefore I bought the AR oil cooler. I am one of the guys that is willing to spend a little more to make sure that im running fast, but safe as well. Its up to you.
