The hood does nothing to protect you in a crash, Hunter. It's considered a "crumple zone" because the hood flexes and bends in order to NOT enter the passenger cabin. If it stayed rigid, it would slide through the windshield, and decapitate you.

Also.... if you're asking if it falls apart.. I don't know. But if it DOES, it's still going to be as if it crumpled, it won't enter the cabin.

good... so this is a non-decapitating hood.

We definetely need pics once it's installed.

Simple physics. The hood already has a curvature to it. a collision will attempt the make the ends meet, and will use that curvature to do so.

Also, CF is supposed to be very strong in a flexible way. It will bend far with out snapping.

I'm pretty sure CF shatters when it breaks, no bendage allowed.

Yes, the hood should crumple so you don't.

I've discussed about the hood's regidity in a Vorsteiner e90 hood thread I already made in the group buy/vendor section of this forum. Realistically, granted, the hoods do provide some sort of impact absorbing during a crash, the car's frame will be doing most of the work.

Pure carbon fiber will flex, this is not pure carbon fiber, but then again, pure carbon fiber parts also cost about 100x more, and as far as I know, very few parts are ever made that way. Maybe the military and f1 cars do it that way, but just about everyone else doesn't.

Don't make it seem like I am bashing carbon fiber hoods or vorsteiner. I personally love the vorsteiner products and what they make. They definately do look good and just plain and simple, they wouldn't still be in business if their hoods weren't quality items. The hoods will arrive in basically perfect condition and fitment.

If you guys have any questions or concern about Vorsteiner's products, just let me know and I can answer them for you.

i dont think the question was if they provided impact absorbing, but if they were going to fly through the windshield and dicapitate the driver

My value on my car is not as expected, since it's red and non-sport, so the only way I could get the 335 is if someone takes my lease.

I figure, what the hell. If no one takes my lease, I'm stuck driving the car I love.
