Do i need to mod anything on the car if i put 19" rims on a 325i NON-SP, repeat, no sport package??
Will it look odd? Maybe 18" might be better bet. Still waiting for my deliver!!! I'm gettin' so impatient!! |

My new 325i is expected to arrive at the dealer in a week. When it does I want to swap the standard 156 wheels/tires with 159 wheels/tires. I called my sales rep yesterday to find out the cost of the upgrade and he'll get back to me on this today.
My questions are: 1. Will 159 wheels/tires fit non SP 325i? Would this cause any problem down the road, performance/handling wise? 2. What would be reasonable price for the upgrade? I'll find out soon from the dealer but I want to know if anyone has done the same in the past and what they paid for. Thanks. |

I am really, really considering the same upgrade to 159s, the 156s just doesn't cut it...please let us know what the outcome of your negotiations with your dealer)..very interested to know (you can PM me if you prefer). You might also want to consider quality spacers to go with the 159s (search forum). Back up plan for me are 17" ASA AR1s and A/S Run Flats (ELs) from Tire Rack..coming in under 2k including shipping.

Why does the 155s run on 225s when the 156s run on 205s...they both have the same offset, diameter, width ...??

Wheel Change - Computer Chip Problem?
I have a question. I just received my 325i with the 161 rims. I really would like to have the 162 since my neighbor just bought the same car (different color). I want to know if I change my wheels, will this affect in any way the vehicle computer on monitoring the tire pressure?
I saw the tires at this site. http://www.bmwwheels.com/bmwwheels_s...eries=E90&ws=0 Last edited by samdlc; 04-07-2006 at 08:51 AM.. |

The monitoring system needs to be reset...
Its recommended to do the tire pressure monitoring intializing function (either through i-drive or through your OBC stalk) everytime you pump air in, so I'd suppose the same holds true when you are putting a new set of wheels....its easy, just a coupla seconds to start it off.... Don't forget, the system monitors low pressure by monitoring rotational speed (through the DSC system)---it's a simple system; unlike the more elaborate sensors within the wheel/tire system as used by aftermarket and some other makes.

Sorry for my ignorace, but would I have to take the vehicle to the dealership to change the wheels? Or can I just go to a local tire shop?
The problem here is that the BMW center 150 miles away from my home. |

You don't have to go to a dealer to change the wheels (there's nothing specific/technical to the wheels/tires aside from them being RFTs)...just take it to the local tire shop. But you have to keep an eye on the max torque when tightening the lugs...I forgot what values but a search should get you results. Also you might want to exercise some caution on the jack points...

The tires are the 225/50R16 performance RE050 runflats. Also on the 323i without Sport package we get a style 154 16x7 double 5 spoke alloy that is not overly appealing. (they look small) Like the 156's they roll on 205/55R16 all season EL42 runflats. (also not very appealing) Mind you none of the runflats appeal to me, I have gone through the poor ride quality issue with runflats on my MINI. |
