Ok, tell you what, I'll remain hopeful for positive reviews from all owners of either Procede or XEDE. I understand the market for these cars is new and it may take some time for people to acquire, develop and settle on where they, as a vendor, stand with their products, in both the supply side to them and the supply side to us as a customer. |

So basically Shiv bought a "computer" that served his basic needs that a company was making. The company needed someone to develop and market it for a period of time. During that time Shiv got lots of experience understanding how that "computer" worked, the limitations, and learned what he really needed to do. He used the "computer" to develop "software" to manage a 335i and increase performance. At some point (maybe from the beginning) he realized the "computer" would need to be upgraded so he could provide all the functions he needed to really improve performance the way it needed to be done. Once he determined what he needed to do (maybe on Xede's nickel?), he "upgraded" to a better computer that will allow him to run his "software" to get the results he wants. Is that a fair summary of these events? Shiv?

The problem with buying the Xede direct is without the 335 tuning maps it's pretty much worthless. It's the maps that make it valuable. |

So is PROcede someone else's invention also? Or custom-designed by Vishnu themselves? Like other people, I was under the impression that XEDE was their creation, in beta form, while PROcede is the production version.

Read Shiv's posting from a while back explaining exactly what happened and why he moved to a different platform. He upgraded to a different hardware that allows more inputs/outputs. There's nothing new here, and he's been upfront about it all along. He never said Xede was his product.
Here's a link to it: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=100

Having said what I said...Huh? Anyways... I think the real important thing is the knowledge of the "Tuner" or "Software developer"... i.e., Shiv. The Xede is nothing without him. It is a blank slate that can be molded to fit a specific application. In this case it was the 335i. Now that he knows exactly what he needs (i.e., the blank canvas that has now been "painted" as the Procede) those of us/you would probably be better to follow to the Procede then go back to the Xede. Xede may be available, but it's old technology now, and the guy updating it isn't/won't be Shiv. If I could find more than two 335i owners in Iowa, I might pull the trigger. It seems to be a great product. Just my two cents... FWIW.

Divorces are always messy but nothing hurts as much as seeing people you assumed were friends go over to the dark side.
How dare you guys? Shiv and Vishnu are ours. We might give them hell under the e90post tent, but they are nonetheless inside the tent. Lock11atxede’s first post seems like a divorce attorney’s version of “he burned the kids with cigarettes and gave the poor mother a beating appetizer before every meal”. Do a Xede google and all you find is these guys gushing about Vishnu did this amazing feat with Xede and Vishnu pulled that rabbit out of a hat with the help of a Xede and now that Shiv wants a divorce, he is suddenly a “dealer” amongst many equals? Now we are going to fall for that old “I have nice teeth” Benny Hill trick of vaporware? Suddenly, magically, Xede is going to have all the features of PROcede just around the corner? I say good for Shiv and good luck to the torquemiesters. Shawn Self appointed N54 is not based on M54 police |

It's times like these where its probably best just give to give thanks. Here goes...
Thanks to the folks at Chiptorque for working with us during the last 4 years. I know it wasn't easy at times for you guys. Still, I hope you guys enjoyed, as much as we did, the experience of building a brand and developing a product to its fullest capacity. We wish you the best of luck with future application and product development. But time and progress marches on and we must all find our own paths to follow [cue the violins]. And last, but certainly not least, we'd like to thank the BMW community for welcoming us into their tent and allowing us to do what we love doing. We make our living developing products and offer services that makes cars go fast. Sometimes we still have to pinch ourselves. Who would have thunk it? Sweet, now we have
shiv with his procede Xede from chiptorque and GIAC Maybe a few more that I do not know of. Shiv, no offence to you, but I was a little worried a few months ago when not many tuners appear interested in the 335i. All I hear about is the xede beta, makes me wonder if the car is really that restricted. Anyways, gdluck with the competition |

Thank you. Sorry for the slow reply (weekend commitments to family)

I the last couple of years, I would think many tuners and other product manufacturers have been very surprised at the flexibility and scope of tuning that is possible with the XEDE and the speed with which products can be developed. I would hope that the Procede can deliver the same quality of result for the BMW community. If not, we'll be here, 14 years and counting! Quote:

(Shawn_speed, I don't need a divorce, my wife'd kill me). More competition is better for you as end users. The XEDE hasn't and isn't going anywhere. The direct plug-in harness (that I assume you all have?) has been made for/by Vishnu so we are unable to supply that in the short term, however, the XEDE pricing has always been Australian $990, that's about US$750. I'll keep you posted as to how to purchase the XEDE if not from Vishnu. Thanks for your words and welcome Lachlan |

FWIW, we'll have 20 or so used Xedes that we'd like to sell that belonged to the beta testers. I'll probably let them go for well under $750 for those who are interested. The only downsides are that they, in the case of the 335i at least, are essentially obsolete, offer virtually no upgradeability or expandability and tend to induce a certain fault codes unless mapped a certain way (which results in less-than-ideal-power output).
Perhaps when Chiptorque actually figures out how to install and tune an Xede on a 335i (instead of directly soliciting my employees for wiring diagrams, firmware files and tuning maps as they did on Feb 3rd), they can witness, explain and resolve these issues for the end users. After all, from the sound of it, they were the source of all Xede development during these last 4 years. Regards, shiv Last edited by OpenFlash; 02-12-2007 at 02:11 AM.. |

From the sounds of the last few posts it seems that the guys from Auzi haven't ever installed an XEDE on a 335.
I think it's safe to say that everyone who's looking to get an XEDE from these guys in Auzi should be careful. At this point I have my money on Shiv's product. I think Shiv's move to get away from the XEDE is a smart business decision and if Shiv says the new PROcede is just as good and better then I trust him as I don't think he would be willing to put his reputation on the line for a few bucks.

You say that the xede that the beta testers have will be obsolete and will basically be useless. I don't understand this... From day 1 these customers have been more then happy with the product and to my knowledge no one has reported that any error codes have appeared. So until the new Procede was released everyone was satisfied with their xede. So i'm just trying to understand here why the xede that is on the beta testers cars now that they are driving everyday and loving, are no good... Thankx |
