I would agree with that but add that a huge advantage of the cobb is to be able to dyno tune the car, which provides more safety ad power as it is optimized for your specific car

This is assuming that all other things are equal. In most cases, dyno tuning results in a tune better suited to the dyno. Conditions are very different on the road.

Absolutely. You could tune it on a load based dyno and also could tune it on the road. Many suby/evo tuners do this.

Good point.

Yes, that is why reputable tuners don't dismiss dynos as just a numbers thing. You get the tune to a decent spot on a load based dyno, then finalize it in real world conditions.

Or you could be unsafe and tune the car on the street, running, stopping, running, stopping, and on and on...

my STi was Cobb tuned on the dyno - made good power

then it was OpenSource tuned by a guy in Dallas and made more power (we did a before and after on his laptop dyno).

i wish Cobb would have just released the freakin 07 software - christ !!!!

When calibrating a car from scratch (ie, stand alone ecu tuning), or when testing a high hp car that can't be safely tested on the street (ie, 9 second drag car), a dyno is invaluable. For what we are doing with our BMWs, I'd say that it is less useful. But it's a tool and can be useful in the right hands.

Was told that Cobb shipped this morning. This is exciting....hoping to learn more from the ones that know what their talking about.

Correct. It matters for the current release of the Cobb AP as it only supports N54 atm.

A simple check under the hood and matching the stock airbox + engine cover up to the pictures above will yield the answer for anyone with doubts.

Sounds like the OP confirmed his N54 and his Cobb AP is in the mail.

I love my cobb and its pretty logs.

Power - Procede v4 autotuning to 15psi > cobb 13psi (Stage two pleease). Butt dyno feels like its maybe 10-15 hps more.
Smoothness at WOT cobb>>>> procede v4 >>> jb3 (deciding factor for me)
Ease of datalogging cobb hands down as I never attempted it with other due to having to run extra cables and buy a laptop.
Install time - Procede = cobb = jb3 (same amount of time, one sitting, other working with your hands)

CanBus extras on the procede is hands down amazing for what it could do. Not getting all of shivs current toys and new toys is

But lost to cobb for what it couldnt do under WOT and that was be as smooth as stock.

And due to preferring a tune that didn’t push boost and timing based and only stop when it . . . . felt like it was doing something bad to my engine??

Just posted logs with temps in the high 20s low 30s in my thread. There is a big difference with ambient temps.

Yes. N54 has twin turbos. "Twin power turbo" is BMW's marketing speak of trying to trick the uninformed into not flipping out b/c the N55 has only 1 turbo vs. the twin turbos on a N54.

The public thinks "twin turbos" = good. Therefore, you get marketing speak like "twin power turbo" or "twin scroll turbo" etc. for single turbo cars.

52-53 and yes, third gear run to 100. 4 gear pulls not on a dyno is CRAZY.

I have 1, 2, 3 gear pull to 80ish but junk down below as I was just spinning my tires in 1st and 2nd.

Receive my Cobb AP and had the unsupported rom error. But I followed the instructions and sent them to the team and they got me up and running in less than 3 days. (Great Job Cobb). Install was a little over 10mins.

WOW! the people who have the tune are not kidding when they said they loved it. It was so responsive and I love the feeling of the car as it pulls me into the seat. I was not a big car enthusiast and this is my first turbo car, so my review for you guys are just plain and simple. Just wanted to say thanks to Cobb for their great response and resolving my issue in a timely manner.

Story: I had the dtc turned off and I was a stop light in middle lane. I can see this truck coming up from my left lane ready to floor it when the light turns green. When it turned green I was in D2 mode,I think I barely had the pedal half way floored and my wheels spun, car was out of control and next thing I know the rear of my car is in the left lane and Im about to do a donut. At that point I decided to just cruise home safely and I'll probably invite friends out to the track. And btw, I've never been to the tracks before so this is gonna be fun. Thx for reading.
