Hi! Unfortunately it doesn't works on a 2011 3-series, I tried everything. Normally once the car is off the HVAC system is completely off, no button works.

But its known to be a feature of 7-series (at least, sound like 5-series also): http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=20

Not a good idea.
He's a member of this forum and saw it anyway. And he's proven to me time and again he doesn't care who does what to their cars, me included.

Thanks, I hope so too, because I really missed that REST feature this winter. They all knew at my dealership that was the one thing that was almost a dealbreaker when I traded my '07 in.

Haha I now understand those 2007-2010 cars with the REST button, its very annoying to have to manually sync the temperature on both sides !!

I am searching to enable ALL button instead of REST for you guys, but so far it looks a bit more complicated than the opposite.

Beside that I did many short trips and I LOVE the REST feature, the car is even warmer when I get back than when I left it.

After a while, the "2 button sync" becomes second nature. In my '11, I still go for the passenger button after I change mine. Good thing because once my car is coded like yours, I will have to sync both for real, and I am not complaining one bit!

REST/All Hybrid?

I wonder if there's a way to have that button perform both functions. Seeing as ALL only applies with the engine running or in radio readiness and REST only applies with the engine off, it should be possible. In fact, BMW should've done it that way!

I really hope the reason they didn't wasn't because they didn't like a button that said "ALL / REST" and they couldn't think of anything better....

I agree with you, but I didn't find anything else about the REST / ALL feature than the mentioned "REST_TASTE_VERBAUT" switch. As I am continuously searching I will report back any other find related

It synchronizes driver and passenger side climate control settings.

I know in my dad's new 2011 528, there is a way to set the residual heat on the i-drive.

Maybe. But as far as I know the actual "Rest button Installed" value is not present in older car's climate control module. Its probably only available in recent IHK module. But keep subscribed to the thread, I continue my investigations...

In my bmw E87 LCI i have installed the climate control with the built in heated seats buttons which is exactly like yours kalud!
The ALL function is not there but the REST function still works when the ALL button is pressed .Also the heated seats buttons work fine!
It is something like a retrofit this which i have made !I hardly believe that i can also have the ALL function but which is the way?

Ok, it got cold this weekend and I wanted to chill with the lady in the car... having the rest function had the girlfriend shivering a bit in the cold so I was forced to "snuggle". I dont mind the snuggling but I am slowly starting to miss that rest function from my 2008.

They should have atleast bundled it with the cold weather package.

I think it should be possible then to enable ALL. Can you have someone (or yourself) to extract your FSW_PSW.TRC of that IHK module ? If so we could confirm and test it out.

I don't think so, there is only a single button, and it either ALL or REST. Sorry to have been a bit too technical about the FSW_PSW.TRC file. It the file you need to modify in order to code the function between ALL and REST. You need to either find someone to code it for you or DIY. If you DIY all the information is available but its a pretty long read.

DIY thread on coding: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480261

Lots of information, but insanly long thread to read (115 pages as of writing, but you don't need to read it all): http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451145

In summary, you get a OBD (D-CAN) cable off ebay or a vendor here, then you install NCSExpert, Inpa, Ediabas that you can find in the previous links and then you basically follow a PDF guide and code the "REST_TASTE_VERBAUT" key to aktiv (for REST) or nicht_aktiv (for ALL).

Hope this helps

All,

I just picked up my 11 E92 yesterday. Car comes with NAV and iDrive. On the menu screen there is a category for climate. You can select the option to recirculate air on there. I will tries to get a picture for everyone later tonight. It seem like Ithis option reset itself after you restart the car (hence you have to do this everytime before you turn off the car). I need to look into this further.
