I use it, all I had to do was set up a car profile. I do recall there being fake ELM327 BT modules floating around a while back, does yours work on other cars?

Yep....works on all my other cars.

Not sure then, I use the same app and ELM327 adapter. For me to get consistent connections, I either turn ignition on or start the car, then open the app. A few seconds later it's connected and I can start monitoring or reading codes. If I do it the other way around where I open the app first, it sometimes doesn't connect.

Do I need a different adapter, or should the ELM327 work?

I've had torque pro for years now with a bit elm327, it's worked great with ever car I've used it on until now with my e90, the app will connect to the adapter but won't connect to the car.
I have carly and that works great.
I also have the thor adapter which works just fine with all of my other apps.
I've tried messing around with the settings but haven't figured it out yet

It works on mine but I don't use it much since I have Ista D and Inpa
