Can someone with a proper boost gauge confirm this. Would really want to see if this 16 psi is real manifold pressure. Also if/ when you run the 91 map please post the max boost.
Sold my jb3 to get this tune but the boost is too high for my taste. Wish they made a lower boost map as well |

I have an aftermarket boost guage. When I wot to 6000 rpm I hit 15lbs of boost. I usually short shift due to the fact you start losing power towards redline. The only mods are DCI and BOV. FMIC coming within the next couple weeks.

Isn't there more involved with running a lower octane map than boost I would still push Cobb for a real answer and explanation for these issues...these are valid concerns

real boost is nowhere that high - people need to get external boost gauges that monitor boost at the DV/BOV and report results. Ive never seen anything > about 15lbs and I am FBO x-meth on my RIXX gauge.

In essence these operations are normal. 15-16 PSI in the mid-range tapering down to 12-13 by redline. As I mentioned earlier I would be concerned with 16 psi at redline, but not 16 psi in the fat end of the torque (mid-range). The overboost figures people are boasting about are throttle closure which results in a inflated peak boost figure, they arent in the engine however. |

What people really need is an external gauge for sure BUT DON'T tap into the DV/BOV line as that won't be 100% accurate either and you'll see boost spikes on your gauge on throttle lift...get an external gauge and tap it into the line going into the intake manifold...a bit harder to reach but 100% dead accurate as its after the throttle plate...

Running 16 psi in the mid-range is well with in the ability of the stock turbos and stock exhaust. We're found the stock exhaust to be pretty good so far. I would suggest a good FMIC before an exhaust. On your log, the 18 PSI spike was due to the throttle closure given the sensor is outside of the throttle body. This means the cylinders were not seeing the 18 psi. As far as the 21 psi spike, we use two different monitors to gather a relative boost reading. The two monitors get out of sync here and there causing what looks like a big spike. What kind of ambient temps have you been seeing? Cheers, Rob |

I wish I had these issue. I should start a.thread saying my boost is too low.
For me to hit 170 load falling to 130 by redline takes 14.5 lbs down to high 12. The weather around here has been in the low 80s |

The main issue is really not boost levels but that of reliability to those who want to own these cars in the future. This engine is not a supra 2jz that can hold 400 hp all day long without major hiccups. So asking all these questions about boost is really just asking how reliable the n54 will be after 100k miles after pushing 16 , 17...... Psi boost

these engines are pretty damange tough. I am pretty confident they can take 400hp for a loooonnng time.
I agree clap, its odd how some folks are seeing such high numbers were others are seeing very reasonable numbers. |

I am full bolted and with IATS starting at 100, by the end of the 1/4 mile im only at about 135. IMO these 93 maps are perfect for fully bolted cars if saftey is your number one concern. I put these things through a beating toping out 5th gear and timing didnt change at all. I expected timing to drop in 5th at such heavy load, I almost scratched my head and though wtf it should of knocked, but it didnt. |

I dont get those IATs, i never see temps that high. Only driven around in 80 degree weather, but even after several high speed pulls, the temps say at most in the mid 11X range.

yea I have seen some of these guy in the 160 plus range. Last night my starting IAT was 106 and it finished at 137 after 4 gears during the 1/4 mile.
When I sprayed meth they started at 106 and finished at 92 lol, car went slower and boost dropped |

What happened to the days of the 20psi proceed logs?? The cobb logs look solid from an outsiders point of view. No hint of a knock at 16psi on 93pump! If you don't see knock, then you shouldn't see longevity issues. I am getting ready to flip 75K on my 07 and I am known for running my car beyond it's recommended limits. 16psi sounds low to me but it seems to be the highest boost level that is still efficient with the stock exhaust. I have run as high as 19 but quickly learned that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The 91 map should be more than conservative enough for anyone that thinks the 93 map is too aggressive. Personally I won't run above 12psi without meth but the Timing above appears to be quite good for a run on pump 93 only. Not too high, so its fast! but no dips either. Now the reports of misfire are the only thing that sound concerning.

Hey guys, can I confirm that for safety I should ONLY be running 91 octane map with my AFe DCI? I wont lie.. I am inlove with 93 octane map, it pulls so much harder up top compared to 91 octane. However, for the 2 - 3mph i'm averaging less, and if it puts to much strain on the engine for long term use I dont think it will be worth it...
COBB Can you please comment? In addition, if I could " ONLY " buy either an FMIC, or a Catless Downpipe. What mod should I purchase to be able to safely run 93 octane map? Downpipe because it is less restrictive? Or FMIC because it keeps the engine temps cooler? Again this is if I only could purchase either or. Thanks guys |

FMIC will help you make power more safely by decreasing intake temps and helping prevent knocking.
In addition, fmic is easier to install than DPs and a LOT more dealership friendly. |
