What is the power difference in horsepower from map 4 with no downpipes to map 8 with down pipes
As long as it is cool outside, you should be okay on map#7, even though it is not recommended. I wouldn't run map #8 unless you have race fuel.

FWIW...on the JB3 I never daily drove anything but map #7, on 91 octane. Car ran as strong and smooth as any 335i out there for the same conditions. I ran over a 100 1/4 mile runs on map#7, 91 octane. Again, if you are in cooler temps, near seal level, should work fine. (But its not recommended!).

Also, now my car is CPS setback equipped, and I never use it, even under the most demanding nitrous injected runs that would make you cringe. I think many people are overreacting to this whole knock scare. I think the BMW DME does a remarkable job of reacting to knock, etc. Just how many engines have grenaded besides a couple in Sweden doing sustained high speed runs with meth/high boost conditions. I mean, in the entire nation here, how many engines actually failed due to a tune??
