My salesman told me that my car went from a 150 status to a 112 b/c I added an usb/ipod adapter 5 days after the original order. I think this guy is full of crap, but he originally told me that the car would be there in four weeks or else he would give me a bmw to drive. I bought the car on march 12 and he just told me on friday (march 30) that the confirm production day is 4/15. When do you guys think that I'll get my car??????????

Dude, four weeks would be a push even if they were holding the assembly line up to put your car on the minute you ordered it. Your salesman is a liar, and you should be aware of this. Distrust anything and everything he says from now on.

If it is built April 15 it will be mid May when you recieve it.

We're screwed. The parts are backordered with no additional information and no estimated delivery.

I called BMWNA and made a formal complaint. They do not care.

To make matters worse, all the dealers that are not too busy eating donuts and drinking coffee to notice this issue are going to be snatching up all the inventory the minute they are released. It will be the usual political favoritism - the big dealerships will get all they want and no one else will get any.

Those of us who first ordered the option will probably be the last to get them, and who knows when that will be.

Does the 6FL option show up on the OC order tracking? I ordered it, but it doesn't show up in the options.

Concerned my car will arrive without it...

don't be concerned if youi don't see it on OC (i don't think anyone does); mine NEVER showed up. i am crazy so whenever i call the 800# for status, i would make them confirm 6FL. your CA can also fax you a list of your options confirming it as well. good luck.

I made them confirm 6FL a few times too. That and the Lemon. Paranoid bunch? I don't think so - look at all the mistakes being made!!

Thanks. My car is already on a ship, so not much I could do about it now anyway. Just happy to know it doesn't normally show up on OC - makes me feel much better.

Totally agree, a $13 iPod dock cable to the aux sounds great as it's line level. If the iPod freezes (which they are known to do), what good is all this anyway? Time to get out a CD or FM radio.

This is an interesting issue and a real stupid one from my perspective. Based on all that is going on wioth this 6FL cable fiasco I told my CA that if the car comes in and the cables (or anything else - like oil cooler) is not present I will either not take the vehicle or will hold $$ back until it is delivered. My understahdning, form a legal perspective, is that since the car is custom made for me and I am not cancelling the order I can legally hold up the final paperwork for as long as 60 days. I think this would likely cost the dealer a few $$. Anyway, they have till mid June as the car is not being built until 1st week of May and I am guessing that this issue will be resolved by then. If not you guys will probaby burn down the BMW tower by that time !!

What do you think is a reasonable amount to hold $2,500.00 ??? After all it has to hurt a bit right !!

Put things into perspective, over a missing cable, a person buying a 4x,xxx car behaves like that? I don't envy BMW CA's, they have to put up with some nonsense to say the least.

I believe you just look under the right wheel well to see the oil cooler.

No it won't. It has to be the special cable that includes a USB to serial converter that drives the iPod serial control input.

Sorry, I do not think it is asking too much for the CA to check to be sure that what the customer wants (and pays for) that the customer gets. For $58K and a 12 week availability I expect them to make the buying experience enjoyable and to make sure that my requests are met.

BTW the requests I have made have all been learnings from various threads in this forum. When I asked the CA if he knew that they had to order the 6FL cables separately he said "oh yeah ?". Really surprises me that we (the customers) have to tell them what's going on. But you know what - it's like this with everything not just your new BMW.

By the way I do not care how he checks to make sure that the car ships with the oil cooler - that's his problem. If he has to go to Munich to find out I hope he has god weather !! All I know is that I expect everything to be there when I come to pick it up.

what I've been doing about the 6fl cable (and I understand that not all CA's are like me and I'm sorry) is telling everyone that the cable will be on the way as soon as we can. I've also personally ordered 5 (ie I am going to pay for them out of pocket) so that the second the freeze gets cleared I'll have some on the way to me. when I do delivery (I have at least one next week with 6fl and did one yesterday) I use a 'we owe' slip, which both the customer and my manager sign indicating that we owe the customer the cable. as soon as the cable comes in I'll send it to the customer overnight. As to the oil cooler... there is nothing your dealer or CA can do if it isn't there... don't expect them to.

I just got off the phone with my CA and he confirmed the cables do not come with the car and they are on national backorder, but my name is on the list for the cables once they come in.

Oh well, I am happy that I had a march production and was able to get the factory installed option as opposed to the dealer installed option.

I am not going to let this little detail spoil my first BMW experience
