Time for an Update, the software was updated last week and i collected the car on tuesday, drove it home and it seemed loads better
Took it back out and it was worse than before, holding onto 2nd and 3rd now and then changing up, but with less of a jolt, although not what i would call smooth. Parked the car up and the next time i drove it, it seemed fine, so i have no idea whats up with it. |

My 330d auto seems to have similar problems to these, ie holding on to gears then changing up with a jolt. It doesn't do it very often but seems worse after I've gone round a roundabout!
Does the 330d have the same auto box as the 335d? (it's got the paddles on the steering wheel) I've took it into dealer for this but they can't find any faults or replicate it, and I can't convince them to do a software update! Does any one that's had it done have any more details on the update like a software version etc? Thanks for any help. |

Hmmm, reset all the adaptions of the car?
Don't bother with using an independent to do a serious amount of updates, 9/10 they won't be able to maintain a proper charge and may kill something... Definitely not unknown for this to happen. I recommend a dealer...... Any law people here ? Alot of dealers say if they update it and fry something then it's our problem not theirs.

The dealer is talking horseshit, an "update" is merely an updated version of software, if they fry something they are doing something wrong
I've had mine back since mid September and the car is now perfect, I wasn't convinced the update worked but it seems to have cured my issues I was having |

All dealers have said there is a risk of updating the software and frying something, so it's not recommended course to just update.
I was confused when they said they will do it, but if they fuck something up then they won't be held responsible..

I'm sure this update is what I need but might as well try resetting adaptions first! Recently bought a BT cable just a bit nervous of mucking something up so not done it yet!! Might speak to BWchiptine about update as heard good things about them. If not back to dealers! |

Anyone know if this is covered by AUC warranty?
I'm having issues in D and DS mode changing from 2nd to 3rd but only seems to happen around 30MPH if im harder on the throttle it doesn't occur. It holds on to the revs a bit longer than it should and there is a definite jolt forward on the change up. I do quite a lot of short journeys (say 5-10 miles) but probably once a week i'll get a good 50 mile+ run in |

My E60 530i did this, got worse over a year till it started jolting 2 or 3 times before finally putting its self into safe mode with a big red cog symbol on the dash. Turning the car off then back on would then solve the problem for a week or so. It got worse and worse till it was doing it every day!
Had no warranty at the time, tried software as well as stripping the gear box and replacing a faulty connector but this didn't fix it. The independent BMW garage I was using suggested it might be the mecatronic? unit which was going to be £1500 fitting but they weren't 100% sure it would solve the problem. Only other choice was a recon box but that was going to be about £3500 fitted! Hope you don't have the same problem I had, whatever it was! |

Sounds like what mine was (and still is occasionally) doing. I have warranty on my car so if it goes bang I'm not really worried, but I would probably start with a fluid and filter change if I were you, this is meant to vastly improve the shift quality of the gearbox. I may go down this route myself soon
