I was pondering the same- whether the secondaries would be more restrictive after being made the primaries, tons of meth runs, etc. May or may not make a difference. My train of thought for exhaust at the moment is to put electric cut outs after some high flow secondary cats. Reason being I like the idea of having civil or ignorantly loud exhaust at the push of a button. Certain occasions call for louder exhaust than others...
I'd also be interested in testing the difference of gains (if any) in CL DPs to high flow cats and out the cut outs vs. cut outs closed and pushing the exhaust through the OEM catback.

bump, anyone put some high flow cats instead of the oem secondary cats into their stock e92 catback exhaust? I have been eyeing a pair of these:

http://vr-speed.com/store/vibrant-ro...0-p-15847.html

They are 200 cell....oem secondary cats are 500 or 600 cell i think?

Does anybody know if the stock exhaust system diameter is 2.25 or 2.36? I've read and seen people suggest both as the diameter of the stock exhaust piping.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

But I want put HFC more close to the DP, so they can heat up well and convert the bad smell exhaust fume.

I also thinking about replace the whole mid pipe with 2.5 inch one. Since I already has a Corsa axle back, I don't need to get new mufflers. If the Stock diameter is 2.36, then there is no need for me to get new mid pipe.

Yeah i've been thinking about either welding in those high flow cats in place of the stock secondaries so i can retain my stock exhaust, or getting an aftermarket system and welding those cats in to that somewhere. Im not sure what aftermarket system would have tone/drone levels close to stock with these cats welded in though. Milltek is a fitment nightmare, topspeed/m2 has horrible mufflers with no packing, ETS doesnt seem to have much space for cats, and HKS/AE is an arm and a leg. I was thinking maybe Agency Power, but still not sure.

anybody know what the exact piping diameter is of the stock exhaust is? Or stock secondary cat cell #'s?

I think I may not go get a 2.5" mid pipe.

Just ask a muffler shop then...
