Ditto, that's what I'm running now and the grip is MASSIVE in a straight line, corners are obviously different

FBO+meth+ACT clutch, MT with Nitto NT555R 285/35-18 drag radials = no traction problems unless I floor it in first from a stop or if the ground is a little wet.

I need mo powa!

On run flats a stock 335IS 7DCT with 314whp/370ftlbs torque will tramp the axles & spin the tires just flooring it in first. Can also break traction with a second gear start without much effort.

With the JB4 365whp second gear start is required & you need to be feathering the throttle. Boost is dialed back in to 11psi 1st & 12psi in 2nd. New PSS tires will be a big help.

Yes, Nitto Invo's are horrible both on the track and for WOT traction...Michelin PSS are incredible!

What do you guys think of that new Bridgestone RFT that's all season coming out for the 18's? RE60 something or other.

Will performance take a big hit vs summer tires?

I had 2 sets of Direzzas. Not that great IMO. LOTS OF WHEELHOP. I have NT05 on the front now and think they are much better than Direzzas. NT555R on the back, but that's not really a fair comparison. They make the direzzas look like caveman's first stone wheel.

Bmw Power Performance Kit. Stage 1 is a mild flash tune from BMW, good for a claimed 20hp and 35 lb/ft torque. Stage 2 provides additional cooling for water and oil. Covered by factory warranty.

not necessarily, lots of things can cause wheelhop. If being sticky caused it, then drag radials would rip the rear subframe out from wheelhop. So we both agree the tire does not cause it. The suspension tuning with the tire does. My rft on my e92 had much worse wheelhop than conventional tires and i couldnt ever call them sticky.

I've heard a lot of good reviews on star specs but there certainly are stickier tires out there that are useable on the street.

ditch the runflats altogether and pickup a Continental extended mobility kit from Tirerack in case you do get a flat. You will have a much better riding and performing car.

No, it's not because they are sticky. In fact, it is because the opposite. It's because they are hard as bricks. This makes the tires bounce more readily as the system dynamics are too underdamped which is made worse by the elasticity of the wheel (being hard) being high making it a stronger spring in the mass-damper-spring system. I haven't had ANY wheel hop with the NT555R and there is no arguing that they are softer/stickier than the Direzzas.

Yes, it is directly derived from the suspension, but softer tires can also eliminate wheel hop.

I drag race this car a lot (easily 300+ passes in this car) and have seen this exhibited many times.
