Shrug, both of my N54s make a siren noise. My RBs with 1000 miles on them make a siren noise when cold started. Honestly it's normal. When those turbos were pulled there was no shaft play and ran fine as far as I can tell.

Well the noise isn't there today for some strange reason, I started the car and there was no noise. Then I took it out for a drive and it wasn't making the siren noise anymore as I push on the gas although it was definitely not making or holding any boost. I've been calling around to try and get quotes on the powertrain plus warranty but they are always busy and never call back when I leave a voicemai.

What does this mean? Sorry but I'm very new to this and does that mean I can take my car into a BMW dealership and get my turbo fixed without warranty?

They told me the actuator adjustment is not covered under the CP, but the actuator replacement is. But, the catch... They won't know if they can replace the actuators under the CP until they take them out and can see if they are out of spec. I told them about the waste gate noise at 42k and they basically blew it off as being normal. Now at 61k they are more than happy to pull them off the car and look to see, but want to charge me for 16 hours of labor. So it's a crap shoot. I pay the money and they come back and tell me they weren't out of spec... I'm out the money and it probably won't fix the issue.

I guess I should have looked to see if you were in Ca. or not. In Ca. the turbo warranty is 8 years 82K miles. Outside of California it's an additional 1 year or 12K miles. If you car was put into service after 5/2007 you would qualify if the turbos are bad. |

But there are different levels of noise. A certain loudness is indeed 'normal' (even though the turbos will not have it when new). If people actually laugh at the siren as you drive by, then you got a problem.
