Again if you wnat the most problem free and consistant performing tune for the N54, check out GIAC.

Who doesn't want the ability to: data log, view fault codes, clear fault codes, upgrade from stage to stage at NO additional cost & have custom tunes made (for pump, race & E85 gas and/or aftermarket turbos).

GIAC ain't go that^^^

Oh boy.....

I'm going COBB, ease of install, not going to pursue crazy #'s, works for what I want. Others may prefer JB, PROcede, GIAC. There are ALOT of threads you can research and find what best suits you.

Given how much development they've put into the small 2.0L Honda K20 engine in the RSX-S and magically finding and extra 30+fwhp on top of an already full bolt-on engine through manipulation the i-VTEC, fueling, timing, etc etc... it's simply amazing in comparison to the tunes and piggy's we currently have.

I wish we had a HonDATA-type tuner in our world

On a side note, O/P if you're leaning towords COBB, buy it from Terry, he'll do support/tuning for almost anything available on ATR for free, even if you don't have a JB4

That could happen very soon, the creator of neptune is working on logging software and soon tuning software for the n54

I suggest filling your car with 1/2 87 + 1/2 urine + 1/2 Creaminz juice. You should have a rocket and not need a tune.

And another 1/2 DIFFFUUUZZZORRRRR NAAAAOOOOOOOO.

There is no way for someone to legitimately answer this question. You will need to do some legwork yourself and research.

First, you need to figure out your goals for the car. Different tuning options have plusses/minuses for certain intended modifications. Determine what you want your car to do, then research the available paths to that goal. Then figure out, for each path, what is the best tuning option for that particular path. It will vary from flashes to piggybacks to a combination of various, depending on the specific path you are taking.

In other words, you need to do your homework. You can get immediate gains from any of the available flashes. However, if you want to go beyond that, modifying the car from stock, it gets way more involved. Happy reading.

On a serious note:

Thread starter...

REnntech, Giac, Cobb are some of the popular flashes.

At the end of the day Cobb is the easiest as you get a handheld unit, and plug it in. You can also sell it in the future.

If you have any other questions we are familiar with all the tunes available and we offer most of them.

The best way is to gather a much information as you can about the strengths and weakness of each of the major tunes (probably take around 100 hours of reading the forums). Then through a detailed analysis of what you are looking for in a tune based on price, current mods, future mods, running meth or not, running e85 or not, how you want to log, do you want a custom dyno tune, how much you want pay, etc, pick what best meets your needs.

Then, you throw all that out the fucking window and pick the current fanboy trend.

Its actually quite easy.

lol, for the most part, people will tell you that whatever they have is best.

anyway i have GIAC for years now and I Love it and never had a problem, however I do not live close to a dealer so it is a major pain in the a$$ to get my car re-flashed....

Plug the AccessPort into the OBD panel by the hood/truck release buttons and upload your map.

Few small steps setting up the handheld AP such as loading the AccessPort on your PC and uploading maps if they aren't already on there. It comes with OTS (off the shelf) maps for your vehicle already if I'm not mistaken.

I am not going to do make an echo here. There is two parts on selecting a tune IMO:

1) Performance
2) Convenience

Performance is no brainer, however, convienience is the pain in the azz to decide on cause every person's demand for convienience is going to be different.

Some of us dont care about convienience and focus more on performance.

I saw the installation video on youtube and that was pretty much the selling point for me.

I totally agree, the performance gains from COBB AP stage 1 are modest and decently price, im going to be running 93 oct, no meth or e85 and the selling point was how convenient it was for me to install and uninstall maps!!

COBB it is!!
