Last summer a mercedes parked the same exact way at a local beach I surf at. To show our disgust, a friend and I "boxed" him in on the left and right side. We then left a note on his windshield stating that we took note of his vehicle license plate and Vin # and should we find any damage to our vehicles he would be hearing from our insurance co. After our surf session to our surprise the Mercedes was gone and not a scratch was found on our vehicles. The Mercedes driver must had gone through the trunk to get in his car, there was clearly no other way to get in.

we basically did this to both sides

can't you get a parking ticket for that as well??

Im with everyone else in that you're just inviting someone to mess with your car when you park like that. I've never keyed anyones ride but I've built up the biggest, stickiest loogie I could and deposited on the driver side door handle...I felt bad afterwards though.

That's funny. But at the same time I would have called a tow truck. And you would have come back to a couple empty spots.

If not keyed expect spit or other things on the car. Or someone to kick that shopping cart into the car as they walk by. Its sad but most people are haters and parking like that singles you out as a target.

Then one of your cars was over the line into the other guys space. That makes one of your cars worse than this guy as he is on the line, not over the line.

Most tow trucks wont touch any of those cars. Its too close and they are bound to scratch each other leaving the tow truck responsible for damage. Plus you are in the wrong for being over the line so towing you would be the solution before the other guys car. Lastly, tow trucks wont take orders from someone that isn't the police or can't prove they own the lot. Otherwise the tow truck is stealing the car by towing away.

Those tow signs lot owners put up are normally after making an account/relationship with a tow company. So the tow company knows who is calling on behalf of the private lot.

If it were me I would call the police. They may not be able to do much but at least its on record if anything were scratched on my car. With the note, as someone mentioned above, you can prove they parked on purpose and there is sure to be something ticket-able with the note as proof. Without a note the police can attest to the situation. I don't think a hit and run would be pursued if parked that close on both sides and a cop saw it first hand. The police would hold the other two drivers responsible or none at all - leaving no insurance recourse for any of them. Lose - lose for everyone.

Yeah, like every other hillbilly who drives a half-ton extended cab pick-up. Those rednecks hang their ass ends over the line all the time!

I'll give this guy the benefit of the doubt, though. It could have been raining really hard and he couldn't see the lines so he parked it closer to the spots than in the drive aisle. Or maybe there were gale force winds and in a effort to avoid his long 6 series coupe doors from catching sail and smashing into that really nice minivan (who is not parked within his *******, he parked far enough away.

I just aim my car for the closest "end spot". If its in the front row, I'll take it as long as its an end spot. I will drive around a parking lot 10 times before I give up looking for my end spot!

Wierd. I called a tow company to get rid of some guy in my rental spot and they didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Of course, afterwards I parked someplace else to avoid the backlash.

Does the lot have posted signs and an agreement with the tow company you called (normally phone number listed on the sign)? If not the tow company was in the wrong. If I were towed and there were no signs I would sue the tow company and the lot owner. One of those two is responsible for being towed when there are no signs. Owner if he made the call to have me towed with no sign as advanced warning or tow company for towing without proper authorization. one way or another I would be reimbursed for my troubles if there was no sign telling me I would be towed.

If there was a sign then its up to me to prove I was parked within the posted rules or to prove the call came from someone other than the lot owner. Of course if there is a sign then I am in the wrong and I wouldn't fight it.

i park in a corner far far away and call for a taxi to drive me up to the store rofl

but ya i dont park like an ass because its true, far worse comes out of it. I just try to park next to just as nice of cars or an end so I can at least spare one side... I can get get very close to the curb on the end maybe gives extra room to my other side.

and than I have a sniper watch my car and shoot anyone who touches or dings it

the end

+1.... we may want to protect our car... but that stupid move may result in more damage to the car itself .....
