I made the same moved on my (jet black) pre-LCI E90 and I had the same reaction as you. That being said, I think think the black grills look much better on a black LCI car.

Keep em in for another week and see if they grow on you.

It depends on the color of the car.

Some colors look better one way, some colors can do both.

Black is one of those colors that could go either way.
Only prob if one thing is black than I would feel like I would have to do all the other accents black also, even the wheels.

Black with the silver slats, if that's possible on the e90. It looks really good on my e92.

Have you looked into the M3 "Edition" black chrome grilles? They look the best on black in my opinion. Not 100% sure they fit on an E90 non-M3, but worth looking into.

You can also sand down the slats, leave the ring chrome, and paint the slats black. Its what I had before I got the M3 Edition grilles and I liked that look too.
