gavronm,
check out this thread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1047140
I'm thinking the $1000 you estimate might be low as the cost of the DDE update is likely higher than 1 grand alone. If you go elsewhere to get the coding done, perhaps the costs will be different. I will say that to REALLY get the EGR off and DEF spraying off, you need to be careful who you deal with.

One other point, if your car has 55k on it now and say its at 60K next September, you may already be pretty far along in terms of build up. My thought is you should block now and if you need to go to dealer, remove the block. It shouldn't take that long. This is what I've heard the California guys do to get there cars smog checked. They clear the code after start. Hooper please tell him your process if you don't mind.

I know someone who purchased a 2011 (non M-sport, no navigation) with 40 K miles and CPO coverage to early 2017 for $22 K USD. He got a smoking deal IMO, because I told him to expect to pay $24 to $25 K USD for such a vehicle.

As the one you are looking at has navigation, I would think that $23.5 K USD is a good deal.

Wish me luck

I am picking up a 2011 non M sport with Nav, BT, leather and all of the popular options except PDC and Comfort access. 44k very clean. Nice and tight, nice push back into then ears and I'm trading in a 4.2 v8 Audi S4 stick for it, so torque is no stranger.
Here is the kicker, it has an in service date of July 2012 so the warranty and full maintenance goes to July 2016 with CPO going to July 2018 or 100k. We have 2 other cars and I expect to do no more than 7k per yr so I'm golden.
Wish me luck

PS I gave $23k for it and had them go over all dings and scratches as well as fix the belt squeal

yah the date it was purchased seems to play a big part with the warranty makes me want to wait but i still think im doing ok because of the year and 3 month free maitenance. Im sure ill get at least a break job and a few oil changes and some wipers out of it which will add up. Im starting to question the warranty but I feel like my good luck car karma is worn out. I drove my e320 mercedes for 9 years without a single repair other then wear and tear. Im finally ditching it do to catalactic converters all 3 going bad costing over 3k. Car isn't worth a grand at this point. I just feel better safe then sorry. I already asked and got 500 off. They only took an additional 500 off due to adding warranty and I have since got another 100 off. So technically I am viewing the warranty as costing 1300. A year of piece of mind is important especially as I am only 30 finishing college and working in commission sales with a 6 year old=).

Garage List
We picked up a Black sapphire on black 2010 335d M-Sport, Premium, Professional Nav etc. etc. with 51k miles for $21,500. At a Dodge dealer no less. I think they wanted to see it go lol. This isn't my first Bimmer and I have been an auto tech in the past. The car is in great condition and has all service history including the recalls. And it hauls the mail! Replaced the t-stat and egr looked clean. Unfortunately, no way to tell if CBU is coming soon by that. The new emissions systems are really killing these engines, especially in the heavy duty diesel applications. I'll Deal with that when the time comes. Probably have deleted the offending systems (for the track of course) and spraying meth by then. Go for it!

To be clear starting price was 23994 they knocked it down to 22900 add warranty and I'm paying 24800 total before tax fees ect. I go in tomorrow driving down to chicago from milwaukee so I'm going to try to say I have to think about it to get more off as im sure they won't want me to leave. Also hoping they'll give me something for my old dying e320. almost 2 and a half years of worry free makes me fell better as this is a major purchase for me.
