Standard or re mapped we've seen a good few diesels in of late re the pressure converters failing for instance, TBH from where I'm standing I really can't see that it makes to much difference whether the cars re mapped or not. I see where you're coming from though re being hesitant.
Counted 7 diesels last week with these failing getting to know the part numbers off by heart. |

So the car ran fine for a while, but now i've got a power loss below 3k revs. I put my foot down and its quite upsetting how slow it is. Once it reaches 3k you get all the power back and it oulls very hard.
I have arranged to drop it off to BMW. I'm under warranty so hopefully its all done free. Last time it was an actuator i think. Any guesses this time? |

Hopefully its something simple and not the small turbo. However who doesn't want a new turbo for free? Dropping it off shortly. Should find out later tonight or tomorrow! |

sounds like the small turbo is not beig activated as 3krpm is where the big turbo kicks in. Vacuum leak, actuator or pressure converter is my guess

I'm interested in this as I have the exact same issue on my 335d. Big turbo is kicking in strong but before that I'm hardly getting any boost. Got the BMW warranty, but will replace the vacuum hoses first as they are in bad shape.
Does anyone have a link to check the prices of the parts mentioned in here? Just wondering whether its worth going through the warranty or just getting an indy to sort it out. OP hope it goes well for you! |

I'm not sure if mine does or doesn't maybe someone can help..
When I put my foot down.. from 1k - 1.5 / 2k I can feel the power and then all of a sudden as soon as it's approaching 3k, I'm pinned right back to the seat. I don't do alot of aggressive driving at all but after reading this thread I was interested to know. Between 1 - 1.5k there is power it seems but when it passes 2k approaching 3k it literally throws you back.. and it's nothing like what is is between 1k - 3k. Sometimes though when I put my foot down, between 1k and 3k there seems a bit of a lag like power's there but it needs that extra second for it to kick in...Maybe it's the placebo affect... I've recently had the turbo pipe changed, rear main oil seal and sump gasket changed and oil service so hoping there's not much I need to worry about now especially if the car is only on 65k and I am a cruiser than a racer. That normal? |

i changed the pressure converters on my dads 335d the other week in the dark and tbh its not as bad job as horrors make out, took about 1h 20 mins cost us £260 for both converters and bracket aswell as the valve at the back of the plate
we had the same issue as the op no power, no lights, wouldnt rev past 3800k and took for ever to reach 70 all runs sweet again now

Got the car back earlier and all seems well. It pulls as it should now. I haven't tested it properly but there's definitely an improvement.
The problem was that a vacuum pipe split that goes to the low and high turbos wastegate. Cost if out of warranty would have been £230. |

Ok so yesterday i picked up the car and initially it felt ok. But then later last night and this morning it was back to the same loss of power, however this time at 2.5k revs rather than 3k revs. So i took it in today and apparantly another pipe had a leak. So they repaired that and the car is fine now, pulls hard low down.
However the good news is that they will replace all my vacuum pipes anyway under warranty, whenever i can get the car booked in with a courtesy car. |

After reading this, I actually want to get mine checked too.. but so hard to tell if it's just a placebo affect or if I'm actually suffering with the same issue.
Will get mine checked. Sadly, don't have warranty but an indy should be able to do it |

1) Drive another 335D and feel the low down power in that. Maybe try a few if possible. Welcome to try mine if you ever pass down here 2) Get a dyno run. I might do this anyway just because lol. If you do have low power then there are a number of things it could be. |
