Looks like everyone is getting them at about the same time... from New York to Ohio, Wisconsin, to California...
Like DK says... This could be awhile.
Parts may take awhile to distribute to all the dealers, and then it could be a mad rush to get in line...
Me, I'm going to wait just a while after parts come in. With the incompetence of some of these dealerships, I want them to do a few of these and get good at it, before they touch mine...

Got my letter on Sat. They don't have the parts yet to swap all the bolts out. Wonder how long that will take.

Got mine over the weekend too for my 2011 335xi. Called my dealership (Life Quality BMW in Brooklyn, NY) and they said that the recall (at least for my car) was sent out inadvertently and will receive more information later…..

Yeah, it just takes 1 hour per bolt lol. The letter says its a 4 hour job, so maybe they do more than just replace 4 bolts.

Under warranty or did they fail/break?

Received mine two days ago. '11 335i xDrive, build date 8/11. Mine's an SA build to, just to add as much info for comparison's sake as possible.

For some reason I'd believe BMWNA's judgement of whether my car needs this repair over that of my dealership's brain trusts!

Bolts and labor. Could be worth submitting your bill for refund.

There is a lot more to it than just replacing 4 bolts. The valve cover has to come off to access the vanos units. You also have to time the motor because the vanos units aren't keyed. And if you have a broken bolt or two then your oil pan may have to come off to retrieve the missing bolts. So expect a 4-8hr job depending on what's going on with your vanos units.

My car is a 10/11 build date and I just got the letter.

am lawyer. do work for/on automotive recalls.

If you paid out of pocket for the same thing as a safety recall recalls, you get your money back. Be firm, be polite, and be a daily pain for your dealer whilst also being a daily pain for BMWNA. All it'll take is a 2-3 minute phone call per day to both until you get your money. If they put you on hold, hang up and ask for the GM's/whoever voicemail "I paid my good money for what you later recalled as a safety issue. Please have your finance department contact me so I can be reimbursed or extended goodwill before I am forced to seek alternative means of compensation."
