It can vary so much, are you going alone or with one other person ? How long are you planning to go ? Airfare really depends on where you're coming from as well.Call Lufthansa to get their 2 4 1 pricing...Hotels can start around 70 -80e's and go way up,food should be at least 120 e's per day,gas is around $8 per gallon so guestimate how many miles you're going to drive.I've had people go for the day and they spent about $900 including air, hotel and meals and others have stayed as long as 3 months ( who knows what that cost ).so maybe 4-5K per week for a family of 4 ( excluding airfare ).hope this helps....start planning and you'll have a better idea.......... |

I spent about $1,000 more than what I had origianlly budgeted for but well worth it. A grand more and I got a vacation/experience compared to driving off a dealer lot. ED is a great way to buy but it does take planning and a lot of coordination from airlines, time off, hotel, etc. BMW offers a few "cheap" offers but if you spend the time and plan things yourself, you can really save money. Keep in mind how long you want to stay; How much the dollar is against the Euro; how far you'll go...I was paying $100 a tank because I couldn't resist the 100 octane gas from Shell; lastly...where you'll be going. I originally planned on going to cheap hostels but the car dictated where I stayed. Europeans don't really car much about their cars and the roads are smaller. I payed extra money for luxurious hotels because they had parking garages safe for the car.

I just got back from spending 10 days in munich, salzburg and vienna. I managed to spend only $1300 for the entire trip, keep in mind that I'm young and broke so the entire point of doing an ED was to save money.
We stayed in hostels every night but one. If you under 27, hostels are the way to do it. Awesome crowd, awesome bars, awesome girls! This time of the year, hostels cost about 15-17 euros per night. (pretty dame cheap) |

Here is a picture of the rooms in the hostal in salzburg. It was the nicest and included it's own parking lot. It was also the most expensive (20 eruos per night if I recall)

Parking was more difficult in vienna, I got lucky and found a spot where no one could park behind or in front on me. Needless to say, the car stayed parked there for 3 1/2 days because I was afraid of loosing my parking spot... This place was the cheapest at 15.50 a night.
fyi- this was the best party hostel... |

Wow, I can only imagine the hordes from the hostels that would love to jump in your 335 for a trip to the beaches.

Question for you guys (and I did search, but not through all 20 pp). If you do ED and finance the car, do you begin to make your payments when you pick up the car or when the car is delivered to the US? While I would guess the former, making payments for nearly 2 months while the car is in route would certainly negate a nice chunk of the ED savings, no?
Thanks in response for the assistance. |

Are you sure or are you just guessing? I'm about a year out from finally being able to do this, and a couple months of no payments means that I can pull the trigger a couple months earlier.

I'm signing the finance papers at the end of this month, picking up the car in Munich at the and of March and my first payment is due mid to the end of April. Although I did pay $1K downpayment last month.

If you're financing, first payment starts when you're billed out before your p/u date ( about 2 weeks or less ).BMW only covers the second payment when you're leasing.

Also, I was told that no payment would be due while the car is in transit, not that BMW would "cover" any payments. |

As long as you bring your NJS Driver's License along with your International Driver's License, you will be allowed to drive.
