Indeed, just out of the blue one day over here a blonde fella in a house by the river with a greenie wife uttered this 2030 date that threw the car industry into chaos. This was followed by many anti-motorist measures being brought in cahoots to this ruling by little hit lers which is now slowly being stopped and thankfully a new leader is slowly turning things around as the bigger picture emerges by the minute.

I think the main problem is online conspiracy theorists.

Where is this EV theory coming from? From psychos online. Not from the field. So there’s a bunch of mentally ill online haters who have absolutely no connection to the fire. Their only involvement comes from their anti-ev activism and their only goal is to find stuff to be enraged about. They make up a theory based on nothing, or a few pics other people took, and expect investigators to address their wacko theories. “They’re just asking questions”

The fire originated from a land rover mild hybrid with a small lithium ion battery.
It could be that the fuel line caught fire equally it could also the battery that caught fire due to an electrical malfunction in the thermal cooling systems etc(I'm assuming mild hybrids have that but I could be wrong). The ferocity of the fire and speed etc shouldn't make people who suspect batteries as the initial cause or what led to the degree of destruction as ev haters or conspiracy theorists.

The Independent (UK) had this statement in it article from yesterday:

"Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service revealed on Wednesday morning the cause of the blaze was a diesel car.

'We don’t believe it was an electric vehicle,' Andrew Hopkinson, chief fire officer for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said."

So this I find as misinformation. The article states the Bedfordshire FD revealed the fire source was a diesel car, yet the quote from the Bedforshire FD says it doesn't believe it was an EV. I know as an Aemerican we didn't invent the English language, but I see a conflict between what the Paper wrote and what Bedfordshire FD said (maybe its the Brit accent I hear when reading the UK press ). If there is any conspiracy it's the ability for the Pess to print the truth.

Is there are news source stating the Range Rover was a hybrid? Does Ranger Rover sell a diesel hybrid in the UK? Inquiring Anti-EV echo chamber Boys want to know!!!
Yeah I read the statement from the fire department chief. They didn't point out that it was a diesel mild hybrid though. An eyewitness account and a video of the initial blast.

From Range Rover Global's website, seems their diesels do have a mild hybrid, and its sold in the UK/Europe
Source: https://media.landrover.com/news/202...ic-range-rover
**DISCLAIMER**
No comment if its the reason for the fire, nor will I pretend to know how this mild hybrid even works so I will leave this discussion at that

Interesting analysis of the carpark fire where he does speculate the Range Rover is a diesel hybrid.

Which brings up an interesting point. Europe has more % of passenger vehicles as diesel, which would be harder to put out the fire from than gasoline, which would be the main concern here (putting out the fire). There have been numerous diesel tankers that burned up and then caused the road to collapse and other catastrophic damage from the extreme heat, so you also have that factor once the fire is going. Not even mentioning EVs, if there's a significant amount of diesel vehicles that's a significant increase in energy that the fire is trying to deal with. No sprinklers again is likely a huge issue in it running away.

If they EVs were spontaneously combusting left and right, the makers would be sued out of existence. Of course they are going to defend their design, but that's what court is for, if it is not reasonably safe, they'll lose. They can't afford that kind of liability obviously.

But diesel fuel can't melt steel beams!

j/k j/k

It's amazing how no sprinkler systems were allowed passed their building code. Even if they were present, likely not enough to put out an EV.

I don't know about diesel being harder to put out. But getting diesel to ignite/burn is much harder than gasoline. Among all the marine guys everyone of them say if you have a choice between diesel or gasoline, go diesel. My boat insurance bears this out as my carrier was very specific about wanting to know what engine I have in my sailboat. And my insurance premium per year bears this out with it being $240 a year that covers replacement cost which I set at what I paid for my boat and $1 million in liability. If diesel is such a hazard, my premiums would reflect this.

Sure seems that way. That guy's analysis is pretty spot on without hyperbole. Everything he brings up makes scientific sense.

Maybe not, but often times systems like that aren't solely intended to "put out the flames", they can keep them at bay for the authorities to properly manage the situation, evac people, get better equipment in, tap into the water and start really fighting it, or keeping other stuff from going up too. It's a mitigation that is likely necessary and it's concerning that it was missing from a place that would seem to need it.

Yes, because it has more energy, it's going to burn hotter and cause other things that normally wouldn't combust to add to the fire and inferno.

Generally, the good part is that it's "harder to get going"...but once you get it going, it's pretty crazy. In aviation, the difference between Jet A (diesel) fires and Aviation Fuel fires is pretty stark. Often times the Jet A will burn/consume the fuselage completely and just leave dust, vs. Aviation Fuel that will not burn nearly as hot and leave a lot more structure.

It all comes together at the end what he says that stalling of the likely reasons to the cause of fire with sending out spurious signals to sideline any threat to their very shaky EV dream path.

Trust me, I don’t feel bad at all. Funny part is that people think they are the smart ones by just accepting what they are told. Real critical thinking there.
