I took my 550i and X5 to SSR and their prices I feel like are fair. So far they have installed a set of powerstop rotors and pads on my X5 and also replaced all four controls arms on my X5 as well. For the 550i, the KWv3 needed to be raised, so they bumped it up a set the dampening on it.

Rod - who took care of me, gave me a tour of their facility and it looks like they are doing some good things, they are remodeling and adding a custom fabricator for exhaust work and all of their lifts were full of bimmers getting work done.

is there any go-to place for 335 diesel carbon cleaning in socal? i have my normal mechanic, but he's super busy and not really into diesels...

Is there a shop or person that could help troubleshoot some mechanical issues on a N55 335i (and do a oil change / brake fluid flush while in there) in the Ventura County area? It's out of warranty and I don't want to go to the dealership. The car has a high pitched whine that is embarrassing and seems to possibly be a belt issue.

I'm looking at a 328i in LA this upcoming weekend. Coming from Phoenix to purchase, any recommendations on a mechanic to do a quick inspection of a vehicle? A paid gig, of course.

Check out chassis masters off Claremont mesa, Randy the owner is a super nice guy was part of a Porsche racing for a long time. All his alignments are done by hand and not a machine his work is top notch! His specialty is also suspensions so he will be able to knock it out.

Do we have any recent names/suggestions for this list? A lot of these names either have gone on to have lower reputations or go away altogether. I hear SpeedLogic a lot, but TBH, I can't trust them after one of the people who worked there tried to sell me a jank N54.

I get that taints the experience, for sure.

I've spent thousands with Rob and drove way out of my way to get there. He took good care of me every time.

I had him do:

OFHG, pulleys, belts
Walnut blast
Waterpump, t stat, radiator
VCG
OPG
CP and intercooler
DPs
M factory LSD
HPFP, LPFP
M3 control arms

No regrets and quality work each time. I'd say it's worth giving them another chance. I've got no skin in the game, no financial relationship, etc. Just my 2c.

Well, I'll take the time to say that I don't really have anything against them otherwise and I've even suggested their shop to a friend or two of mine since they have competitive prices. I guess it's just an unfortunate matter of negative association and I've been burned too many times to ignore smoke when I see it. I let them know exactly what happened though, just so they know I'm not just a crazy person making of stuff and trying to start drama.
